Can you run a DMZ SUA kit without glass?
I'm not intending to create an argument. Genuinely curious. I've been debating with myself on a +2 and the TC SUA kit vs +3.5 kit with a real LT SUA kit. Some of the trails I do get pretty narrow and I'm 2wd. The trails I'll do 4x4 I'm completely worried about width.

The only reason I run wheel spacers is so my tires don't contact my bypasses. If the bypasses where inside the frame rails you could get away without running wheel spacers. As far as glass fenders, you will have to cut your bedsides due to the increased wheel travel. I ran 33"s and stock bedsides and LT upfront for a while. I finally added glass bedsides because I was tired of having my tires rub on my stock bedsides and wanted to maintain max resale value.

Yeah why not. Might have to take the flares off and cut the inner fender liner if you have tires that are bigger than 33"

If you're 2wd build a go fast rig unless you enjoy gettin stuck all the time.

Edit: not trying to tell you what to do, just what I would do

This thread is nearly a repeat of the mid travel vs long travel and to lesser of a degree let's talk rear suspension threads in case anyone enjoys this debate and wants more lol

Honestly I don't really notice although there is a difference of 2 inches per side. With a 2+, TC says to cut if not running glass for a reason, but Im sure you could have fun banging up your stock fenders if not. From what I have seen, many guys who link the rear tend to have either 3.5 or wider like 4.5-6.5 kits. At that point you are racing through stuff that the casual full LT guy is cruising through.

Another vote for the Total Chaos +2" Race Kit.

I have been running it on my 4Runner since right when they launched and I love it. Mind you I don't have any of the other LT kits to compare it to, but it was a huge upgrade from my previous setup (Fox Extended Travel and Camburg 1" UCA's). Great build quality and have had zero issues other than a loose CV boot that puked grease my first trip out (my fault).

No glass needed for my truck and with the spidertrax I am running in the rear, the widths are similar enough that I never worry about it.

stupid question, but as someone who has a habit of bottoming out mid travel how important would a hyro bump be for the front and what kits allow for it in the +2 lt kit?

don't know the answers to your questions but here's a thread that I think you can read through until someone responds with a better answer

is your suspension tuned for your driving style? If not I’d start there.

i have a mid travel with really soft foxes that do well for my driving style, it's just not enough shock so im looking in to lt and was just wondering how the hydro bumps do up front and if they are really important for a soft setup like i want to run since they are almost a necessity with a lt rear setup from what i can gather

@desertjunkie760 has always professed that a midtravel setup that is actually tuned will perform awesome. I would look into that first through somebody like @AccuTune Offroad.

im not against it by any means but i really enjoy the idea of getting an lt kit and reinforcing everything on the truck(the group i wheel with are all a little crazy and I am put in the same category as a guy who jumps a jeep with 8' smoothies) my truck has acquired the nickname "baldr" for its reliability and id like to keep from breaking anything. on a side note would a lt rear and a mid front make sense if its something like a dmzfab sua kit with only 14" shocks(straped around 15-16" of travel" instead of the recommended 16-18"?

it might be but if i don't keep it soft than it doesn't stay planted and i get bucked really hard from side to side and the back is honestly just hell

It could also have to do with how you drive the truck. If it’s not being driven correctly for the terrain it’s not gonna stay on top of things and you’re gonna get bounced around

i'll give you that one, but in my mind if i'm going to build a truck why not build it to the way it's driven and not necessarily the "smart" way. hence my look into the wheel travel filled world of lt

You can build it anyway you want, but if it’s not driven correctly it won’t make any difference.

if you choose to go the long travel route the answers to all the questions you’ve asked have been posted in this sub forum a bunch of times.
