Question about when you switched from 885s to 886s. Were you originally running the soft struts with the 885s? And did you keep them for the 886s, or swap them out for the firm rides? I know that I'll eventually end up with the 886s due to bumpers, but that could be years away. I was thinking about running 887s until then with soft ride struts, then swapping them out for 886s when the bumpers get installed. I just haven't seen anybody run the 886s with soft ride struts yet.

5100s are great with the 590 lb/in coils.

Check with other Prerunner owners about coil selection. 885s yielded 2.5" on my 4x4 v6 Access Cab. Without a front diff, you'll likely get more than that.

I have the nitro charger spots up front. All I did was swap the coils.

I just installed a full OME kit with Headstrong's 3 leaf AAL this past weekend. I did the Nitrochargers Softrides. I dont run any extra armor/bumpers/etc, so i went with the 884 coils. I gained about 2" in the front and 2.5" in the back. I cant speak to the 5100s but the ride on with the OMEs has been fantastic.

After install we took it for a quick drive on a very pot-holed dirt road to settle things into place before final torquing. I took the road a a brisk pace, and while you still noticed potholes, the ride smoothed out really fast.

    @chertzog

OME Dakars in the rear? I went with the "medium duty" and now I really wish I would have gotten the heavy duty ones. But the medium duties gave me a 4" lift in the rear haha.

    Did you change your UCA?

My rear springs are still stock, with the Headstrong 3 pack of AAL. No Dakars. I dont have a shell, or rtt, or really carry anything heavy (occasionally some lumber). So i didnt feel the need to go heavy duty in the rear.

I did change my UCAs to SPC - LRs.

They're also twin tube vs monotube from Bilstein. For higher speed applications or more go-fast type driving i'd take the 5100's all day long. Especially if you do a lot of washboard roads.

If all you're doing is highway and some mild jeep trails, the OME's might be fine.

I’ve rode in 2 trucks that had the same 885 Dakar setup difference was the shocks 5100 vs nitro chargers. No added weight to either cept sliders the 5100 was firm but not rough nice road ride an dirt was better than stock but not great. Nitrochargers kinda floaty on the road like a old land yacht but handled the rough stuff almost like a coilover such as icon, king etc.
Hope my passenger ride opinion helped some.

See this is what I thought the differences would be based upon reading about the valving types. I also read that if you want to improve handling you should upgrade the sway bar and not put that work on the shock because that's really not what it's meant to do.

Has anyone ever upgraded their sway bar with Nitro Chargers? I wonder what the difference would be

Upgrade the swaybar? They had theirs removed.

I used to have OME N182s on the rear. They were a plush ride everywhere. You're right about the valving differences. 5100s ride a little stiffer on paved road, but suck up potholes and washboard at high speed really well - for such an inexpensive shock absorber. If you have an aftermarket leaf pack, the OME shocks are the limiting factor for down travel. They're designed to be. I went with extended length 5100s in the rear (B110s) now I just need to install my extra long brake lines. My +3" lines get pulled tight when I flex.

I know in that aspect for independent flex. I figured it was meant to be as in a thicker one.

Would removing the sway-bar not cause the truck to... well sway badly in turns? I believe its' purpose is to prevent the truck from leaning like crazy in a turn, is this not the case?
