I found a guy's picture, seen below, and asked him how he got the Amber Parking Lights to be ON ALL THE TIME. He said his are always on, no matter what.

My front Amber Parking Lights only illuminate when the blinker or hazard lights are on. How can I get them to always be illuminated? The Amber Parking Lights aren't even on when the headlights are on.

Is this a mistake on my truck or do the Front Amber Parking Lights never turn on except for blinker use?

Check again. They should be on when switch in 1st position (as above photo indicates) or 2nd position (with headlights on).

Hmm, I'll have to double check mine.

With lights off, nothing is illuminated. DRL switch turns on the LED DRLs, parking light switch dims interior, turns on dim taillights and turns on amber lights on front along with LED DRLs, headlights on turns on headlights with LED DRLs but no amber lights. But that was when I picked it up and I may not remember correctly. I'll check tonight. This is on the TRD Sport.

My '09 Tundra Rock Warrior (aka Base model with 5.7L+CMAX) was no lights, parking lights, and full on headlights. Much simpler. Parking lights turned on the amber lights up front and taillights. I usually used them when it was close to dusk but not quite headlight time, or during cloudy weather. But now I have actual DRLs :)

Bingo, pretty sure those are the DRL for the SR models.
LED is only referenced in Sport and up.

I just leave my switch in auto. In Canada, so can't turn off DRLs. Also, the DRLs appear to dim with headlights on, according to manual they turn off. So might just be some ambient light from the headlights making them appear as if they are dimmed.

My '13 LTD used the ambers as DRLs, so on all the time.

I don't think the truck in the picture has LED DRLS so it uses the parking lights like the 2nd gens. I could be wrong.

Is the guy in question a Canadian ? Because if so , there will be no way to turn the DTRL off as DTRL has been law since the 90's

Just no option on the stalk to turn off DTRL on the newer years , the older ones like my '09 are always on unless the headlights are on or you have the parking brake on .

That's what I was thinking but it's only the amber side lights and not the ones right on the front. I finally actually got out and looked.

Left is DRL only, middle two are parking lights (Amber on the side lights up), and right is headlights on.

Does your headlight stalk have a DRL setting ?

That is pretty tragic if you can't turn on the amber lights on the models that have LED's. Although I'm sure you can add a switch to get them working.

That is one of my favourite things about the second gen tacos. I love seeing that distinctive amber glow from other Tacoma's cruising down the road.

I think the blinkers function as the DRL's on the SR (maybe SR5 also). I saw an SR a few weeks ago with the orange DRL's and was like "wtf, mind doesn't do that"??? Since the Sport, OR and Limited have LED DRL's, we don't have the orange ones is all I can figure out.. Sure there will be a mod soon.

I like the Toyota Truck Amber Running Lights look. I want my ambers to run.

Yes, my truck has a DRL position but it's only the LED DRL

Do the SR5s have a DRL position? This guy had his ambers running and not the tail lights...

He also looked at me funny when he saw me taking a picture

    073800c6a7a7efff8d962cba96f469ae_cff1bc0ae11db070d1572b2f10eed09b33d153b1.jpg

Wait, it looks like he has the SR5 appearance package with fogs and color matching flares, doesn't that come with LEDs?
