Having seen winch cradles that mount to hitch receivers and hidden receiver front bumper mounts for stock bumpers, I was curious if anyone has ever seen an armored aftermarket bumper with a hitch receiver that could mount a winch cradle to it.

    Potential Pros:
    - Winch stays out of the elements during non-Offroad Activites
    - Can potentially use one winch for front or rear recoveries
    - Less constant weight in front of vehicle, especially for non-Offroad activities
    - Hitch receiver for any other purposes.
    - Front bumper design could be mounted much more flush as theres no reason to leave space for internal winch.
    - TBD

    Potential Cons:
    - Winch Cradle's protrusion could be detrimental during the mounting-vehicle's self-recovery
    - Need to find another place to store the winch, still.
    - Winch Cradle introduces additional point of failure.
    - TBD

Has anyone else ever thought of this or considered it? I think I was mostly inspired by older Matt's Off Road Recovery videos where he used a set up like this on his Jeep.

I have not found an aftermarket front bumper with a receiver in it, yet. (3rd gen)
My current plan is the 4xinnovations hidden receiver.

I finished wiring up for a front or rear winch this weekend.
I like the option of being able to use it front/back and not having to always keep it on the truck.

Will that work with a winch cradle? It looks like the winch/cradle may hit the bumper and/or grille.

    I hope so. :D
Can't say for sure because I've never seen one.

I think it's a lot closer to the bumper than the pictures lead on.
My winch cradle has a 7" arm. 5" before it hits anything.
They could probably be 4.5" back and the cradle would still work.:notsure:

    I had to check.
5" on the tape measure gives the winch arm comfortable enough room before touching the grill.
The other end of the tape measure is right on the back side of the stock aluminum bumper.
The pin (to center) is 1.25" from the end.

    Looking down at the bumper.
