I know its not good. anyone have any idea of whats leaking?

Doesn't stink so I didn't think it was diff oil.

I have 60k powertrain warrant so I will bring it there.

It's gear oil. CV shaft oil seal in the end of the housing. Not that big of a deal.

That is a seal leak for sure. Should be covered, I had one go bad on my truck and it was covered under the warranty. If you do it yourself make sure you don't push the seal in too far or it won't seal.

Dealer said the tech is going to look at it and decide if its covered under warranty or not.
If its not I will be charged 105 to 205 just for the inspection.

Can't wait to fight the dealer on this one.

Are you lifted or stock height? That may play into if you have to fight with the dealer.

Lifted 1 inch. but how will that effect the axle seal?
I figure even if it doesn't I will still have to fight.

Some dealers bring up the lift to deny the claim. I hope you have a good dealer that takes care of you.

Yes, they can deny it, because it's lifted. Being lifted puts pressure on axle shaft against seal. Totally their call. You altered oem suspension. You can fight it, if they don't. But it's a pretty tough fight. Hopefully fix under goodwill.

Dealer chose to not cover it because it had rocks and mud. Nothing to do with lift.
Lost $100 on diagnostic. Yeah it was the axle seal.

That is a dick of a dealer. I have one good dealer I drive 1 hour to even though I have another 10 minutes from me. The one 10 minutes from me threatened to red list my truck after my lift with a warranty. The other dealer installs the lift I have and warranties everything. See if you can find a better dealer for the next go around.

Rocks and mud? Is it an off-road model or a mall crawler? If I bought it from that dealer I’d remind them that they sold me the off-road model and I would really like to appreciate their customer service.

Nothing new, most dealers are complete scumbags that just wanna make money off you and do everything to deny your warranty.

I already know if I bring my truck with a power train issue, 99.9% sure they will tell me to pound sand.

So I spoke with the guy yesterday. I asked him directly, if you tell me because I have offroaded in the past this isn't covered, I won't do an inspection. So he says they will look and if it is obviously from offroading, like a torn CV, then they will not cover it. I know its an axle seal since the CVs are intact.

Today he tells me since its been offroaded they can't cover it. Not that the seal is obviously broken from offroading. It just can't be covered because offroading voids warranty of a TRD OFFROAD.

They didn't even check the diff oil level and told me it can't be done without draining it (untrue).

I am going to cancel the charge since they lied about the charge conditions.

Anyone know if a dealership can void your warranty? I don't want to be retaliated against

I’m sorry but that’s fucking insane. I’m not surprised one bit though.

You need to take it up higher than their service manager’s level, or go somewhere else, perhaps to corporate because they are full of

Go somewhere else and do not let them perform service on your truck. At least that is what I would do. I was told a dealer could "red list" you, meaning it flags your VIN and basically says you tried to warranty a certain part and were already told no.. and if that is the case the next dealer can't do it. I am not sure if this is true or not though** I was told to not get done work at a particular local dealer for that reason and to go to a dealer across town, which is what I do and has been the best decision ever.

Are you lucky enough to have another dealer nearby? If you are not, then I would open a case through Toyota Corporate, they will contact the dealer on your behalf and schedule the appointment directly with the service manager most likely if you squeak the wheel long enough.
