I'm still wondering about the steel brake line btw the caliper and the rubber hose. What have others done about replacing these small steel sections. Toyota doesn't supply them. These have two pretty sharp bends that I cannot duplicate. What have others done. They may be rusted together and not be able to slide on the tubing.

Adam, referring to your post / photos, the P/N for the raybestos calipers you show are not coated. At least that is what rockauto shows today. Were they when you bought them?

Wow that's great. Which side is that for? And do they have the other side? That's a good price if they are made to fit. Thanks

Think that's the passenger side (right) but not sure.
Google the toyota part number and another site will probably say.

One last question before I start this project, what is the recommended brake fluid to put back in the reservoir, since I know I will be losing fluid. Thanks

Probably can't go wrong if you stick with a Toyota packaged brand.

If aftermarket... just make sure you stick with the recommended DOT version. Should be in your manual.

They replace the rubber hoses. The rubber ages and can also flex/bulge when you press the brake pedal. Changing them out to SS brake lines helps prevent flex/bulge in the hose.

    I used Valvoline Synthetic Dot-3/4.
Been good for the last 5 years.

    Are you doing rears too?

No rears at this time. I still have to check them though. I can't remember when I check them last. Thanks

Drilled rotors were not started for weight savings. They were developed to prevent the out gassing of extremely heated pads from pushing away from the rotor. Modern pad formulations do not out gas. No longer needed.

I agree just slotted rotors will typically have a longer "life", but for an application like a Tacoma? I wouldn't worry one bit if someone is running drilled rotors either. You'll be fine either way.

Hi guys, finished with my front brakes' installation using the new calipers from autobrakesolutions.com and they are fantastic. Better than OEM and you can't beat the price compared to OEM and the fit was perfect. I did have a small issue that Pat the owner corrected immediately. If you need new calipers, I would check with them out first. Standup company that is committed to their customers. Check them out. He posted a couple of comments on page 2 of this post, thanks.
