Aside from worn rotors, is there anything else which might cause a pulsing sensation in the brake pedal? The pads have about 6mm left on them. I have an excellent mechanic, but he's sometimes more of a pefectionist than my budget can stand at the moment. As much as I'd like to have everything brand new at the same time, I can't at the moment. So, I'm thinking "just rotors". The mechanic says "I'd rather not..."

The pads are a real mystery. They have about 110K miles on them. They're still smooth, no glazing. I've never gotten mileage like that on front pads.

    Thoughts?

You wanna do pads whenever you replace/resurface rotors. Sounds like rotors are warped. Wouldn't bother turning at this point. Just do it right the first time.check caliper slides and make sure nice and smooth while in there. Rotors get warped due to overheating and can also be caused by calipers slides sticking.
    Just my 2centd though

I had pulsing in brakes on on 01 and it was dirty brake fluid. Complete exchange of fluids removed the problem (thought it was warped rotors), worth a look!

The difference in cost to upgrade to Tundra brakes is not that much more. Then problem solved for good.

New rotors with old pads is like flushing money down the toilet. This is a simple job. Why pay someone to do it.
