Any shorted circuit around a pcm or control module is a hazard to the module and it will set a code immediately.. pending codes only show up during non-continous monitors like when you leave a gas cap loose. It will set a pending while it waits to see if it sees the same code(Evap leak) will show back up. If it sees the code again then it will set a hard code.

I was in the sized drum brake thread (it actually happened to me at one point) and in that thread, like this one, I noticed some posts with a common theme. I'm trying find a way to say this nicely, but when you say "I've owned (X) number of vehicles over (X) number of years and it never happened to me, so it can't be happening to the OP, well you sound silly/narrowminded.

I do a little detail on my truck almost every weekend on my truck.

I use some very corrosive chemicals to clean out my wheels. (Meguiar's Wheel Brightener for the wheels and Meguiar's Super Degreaser for the tires)

I do notice that after after the rinse, the rotor gets rusted very quickly.
I rinse with a garden hose but I use a 30" watering wand with a Little Big Shot nozzle at the end, my poor man's pressure washer.

But I have not noticed any type of seizing. And sometimes I don't use my truck until the next day.

I still think it is something other than a simple car wash seizing the brakes, if this is happening then why does this not happen after it rains or is humid outside?

But I don't see how water will get in the drums when you wash it either...

It rains hours on end sideways around here, I would imagine much more rain is getting in the drums then during a car wash.

I'm not to familiar with 3rd gen hill holder.. does want you in low gear or low range to let go of the brakes? Like when you're crawling up something steep? Is there a button to activate it or lock it out? Is it on all the time?

Funny thing is, I just googled "brakes seize after wash" and not kidding you I see this exact same issue with Porsche, Cadillac, and Subarus. This is happening with both metallic/organic and ceramic brake pads... Maybe its our rotors that create so much surface rust that after a wash. Water remains between the rotor and pad that is grows very fast and sticks them together.

BTW. These Porsche owners were also having to give high revs to get them unstucj... and I know Porsche engines are 350+ HP, Just saying.

BTW, one of their solution is to run hot air from a heat gun or hair dryer.
I guess you can also use a leaf blower to blow out any remaining water.

It's downhill assist control, not a hill start assist/holder to keep you from rolling backwards like you are thinking. It's designed to be used in 4LO at slow speeds to have better control going down steep/slippery slopes.

I've owned over 20 vehicles in 20 years. Does that make me more of an expert?

Are you really that dense? There are owners out there that never had the Diff howl. Does that mean everyone else is making it up?

Spend 2 seconds to search instead of spewing garbage out of your suck hole and you'll see that it has happened to many owners on this site, as well as many many owners of all kinds of different vehicles.

This happened to my Tacoma. I washed it and parked it in the garage overnight with the ebrake on. It wouldn't move forward, but it did back up which released the brakes. I'm 52 and have washed cars/trucks all of my life and never saw this before.

I explained this in the other thread as well.
Bimetal corrosion, it causes differing metals (especially iron) to fuse together. Climate, water hardness, and luck are all factors.

This forum is full of uninformed know it all alarmists.

Lol in Canada its pretty common, sadly in Alberta we use a lot of salt on the roads, so I don't want to risk that. Besides the car washes usually have warm water and a "turbo dryer" so don't usually have too many issues.
