I had a Subaru, it would do this after sitting for awhile and after being wet. I believe it's galvanic corrosion in the drums. I would put it in reverse and let the clutch out and it would tug a significant amount before breaking free.

No but my troll post worked and got the exact reaction I wanted but wanted it from a 3rd gen guy. Lmao. Of course this can happen. If op took the time to research instead of make this thread he would have found his answer.

I have two vehicles outside been sitting and are frozen.

Actually it is Hill Start Assist, it is in the brochure and says helps minimize rolling backward when starting.

I'm in NY and I get rusty rotors hours after a wash or rain or high humidity. Happened to all the new cars sitting on the lot at a dealership I worked at. Sometimes you'd have to pop the car free , other times the first few stops the brakes would sound like sandpaper rubbing until you wore the rust off. Usally just a quick stop or two would do it. Allso some rims protect the rotors better than others. But hey what do i know I'm just an A.S.E. certified technician with a NY inspectors licence and have decades of experience working in different dealerships and independent shops.

I've had it happen twice after car washes. Took it to Toyota and was told they couldn't duplicate problem so nothing got inspected or fixed.

Never had mine seize up after a wash, but they squeal pretty good backing up until the surface rust is knocked off. It usually goes away quickly.

It appears you are partially correct. I didn't realize Toyota installed that system on automatics as well, thought it was just for manuals. The dash light indication is for DAC and only operates like I posted.

It might be "normal" for this truck but I have never had this happen on any other vehicle I have ever owned or driven.

lol wtf people are actually here saying this is normal? I had a truck with drum brakes before this for ~15 years. Never seized once...there is nothing normal about putting it in Drive and going nowhere when you step on the gas after coming out of a f'ing car wash.

It's not normal but it happens, I'll be it was his left rear drum that stuck. Might need adjusted, or lubed. Maybe his pads have a higher metallic content. Instead of posting on here I would take it in to get looked at it be pulling a wheel myself to inspect

Tell that to the thousands of owners of all different makes and models of cars that it happens to. I guess you're right, being that you owned a truck with drum brakes for 15 years you are certainly an expert.

I'll bet you don't have Diff howl either and so those people must be making it up as well.
