I just replaced the front brakes in my 2015 Tacoma and I can't get the front brakes to engage. Only the back brakes are stopping me. I already bled the front brakes as well. And ideas. Thanks.

Did you plug back in the ABS system and did you damage any of the wires while doing the brakes?

If they worked before then it most likely needs to be bled still. Did you happen to empty the brake fluid reservoir and suck air in that way?

Did the pads slide in to the calipers or did you have to hammer them in?

No. There were no wires on the front calipers. I did split the calipers apart then put them back together. I might have to flush out the entire brakes system again.

It was my 1st time and I split the calipers, not knowing I could just slide them in & out with out splitting them.

Yea. There's no bananas up there to be split.

Do you mean you unbolted the caliper and took it off? Did you undo the brake like to the caliper, or leave it attached?

Have to ask. Since you didn't know how to easily change the pads, was this your first time at bleeding brakes as well?

Yeah I unbolted the calipers took off the 4 bolts on the back. Yeah I didn’t realize how early the change is. Do I need to flush the entire system?

Did you remove the brake line from the caliper?

I think the calipers have a bolt that can be taken out and split the two halves

No the line was on. Just undid the inside & outside on the caliper into 2 parts. Will flushing the entire system solve my problem ?

Did you put this O ring back in place? Ideally, it should have been replaced, but you might be leak free if it's in place.

You never did answer the previous question above. Did the master cylinder reservoir go empty?

The small black o ring was replaced. There is no leak. The master went down a bit but the reservoir was not emptied.

would the solution be flushing the entire system out?

    thanks.

Do you ever build up pressure with the brake pedal. I.e. does it get more and more stiff as you pump the brakes or does it goto the floor each time?

Did you split your calipers to rebuild them? Where they leaking before?

They were not broken I was just a rookie at the process. I pump up the peddle 5-6 times and it stops.

I believe I need to flush the system. Right ?

If it all got back together right, then chances are there is still air in there somewhere. Get a bunch of brake fluid and a one man bleeder kit, crack the bleeder valve and have someone else work the brake pedal real slow all the way to the floor over and over while you watch for air coming thru the tubing. DO NOT let the brake fluid reservoir run out or you are in for more of a headache.

you can make your own one man bleeder as well with more capacity

Yeah I would start there. Take your time and and do back then the fronts. With a tube and a mason jar you can bleed it without any special tools. I know on other vehicles you can gravity bleed but I haven't had to do it with the Tacoma yet.
