Like the view from your front camera. Where did you mount it?

Action cameras often connect to tablets/smartphones via wifi protocol. The camera creates a it's own secure wifi network that the tablet/phone connects to in order to transfer video/data. It's not an internet connection or anything, just a means of wireless connection. It's basically the functional equivalent of bluetooth, only offering greater range, faster transfer rate, and encryption.

Has anyone figured out how to turn the back up cam on at anytime? Dodge allows the rear cam to be accessed anytime for tow reasons I believe. How hard would it be to add a signal to the cam that makes it believe the truck was in reverse?

Hey Fellas, did you ending using this setup? Wondering, do all cameras display on the factory radio or do you toggle between the inputs? Anyone have a photo of what the interface looks like with multiple cameras?

Not yet. This mod is on my "maybe, if/when I get bored" list.

After wheeling today I realized I can't see a damn thing in front of me when going uphill. Waiting for someone to try this... My ideal setup would be a front camera that I could view on the OEM nav screen with the flip of a switch.

I second that dimead0zen, I am trying to find the same thing...A while back I read the mod for the anytime-on camera display in the rear-view mirror, but mine is in the JBL Head unit. I thought I remembered seeing a variation of the mod that talked about the JBL head unit but now I can't find it.

I looked into the manual for the CRUX VIMTY and I think it would prove pretty simple to integrate a camera into the entune system:

I would prefer to use a switch rather than the Steering Wheel controls; and I think this would be doable with this schematic. Alternatively you could always default to the steering wheel controls which would look slick as well.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this; with the Toyota emblem and this unit total price would be ~130 which isn't that bad - a separate switch would put it up to $150. Appreciate your thoughts.

Subbed. I have a DCLB and am constantly worried about "sticking out" in parking spaces so I try to pull in as far as I can. I have gotten pretty good at judging the distance, but a front cam would make this a whole lot easier.

Project on hold until I receive my replacement. The VIMTY override works great but the A/V cable on the unit I received was damaged and would only display video when I squeezed the crimp. I'll be documenting progress in my build thread!

@Skystrider17 I'm curious how you planned to wire it, I was going to use an Air on Board switch to trigger the camera but your post got me thinking about also using it to activate the VIMTY. The only thing is, outside of the camera the VIMTY has so many other great uses. The steering control method is very KISS.

Aftermarket can, maybe not simultaneously Panasonic NEX series.
8200nex blows any factory out of the water. Even a 4200NEX.

Odd behavior with the VIMTY today and I couldn't replicate it on demand. Yesterday I was excited because I thought the VIMTY "A/V" audio source was sharing the OEM "AUX" audio source. My particular config has me running the AUX port full time because I'm using an old SiriusXM lifetime subscription receiver. I was able to have "A/V" selected (the bumper camera) while listening to the "AUX" source.

Today every time I turned the car on / off it would exhibit either the same behavior as yesterday OR not share at all. I didn't change anything else and tried all sorts of on / off combos today to see what triggered it. We'll see what the replacement unit does.
