    Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a front bumper replacement that’s as close to OEM as possible for my 98 Tacoma. The previous owner dented the bumper and used metal wiring to hold it in place, so I’m trying to find a proper replacement to clean it up.

I’ve searched locally but haven’t had much luck. Are there any aftermarket bumpers online that are actually worth it—good fitment, solid quality, and not too far off from the OEM look?
Also, has anyone done a relatively straightforward 4Runner bumper swap that fits well? Is it worth doing, or more trouble than it’s worth?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The aftermarket OE-replacement bumpers are "fine". The quality won't match OE but the fitment should be good enough and the look should be comparable.

You can buy from RockAuto, eBay, etc. I can't speak to any specific brand, I'd expect they're all roughly the same, and all good enough. Pay attention to what the replacement includes. Some are just plastic, some plastic+chrome, some plastic+chrome+lights, many seem to expect you to re-use your original brackets and hardware. Re-use any of your original parts that are still in decent condition. Give the back side of any metal parts some sort of rust prevention treatment, they always seem to corrode quickly.

I've got a 96 4Runner bumper on my 98 6-lug. It kinda works, but it's not a perfect bolt-on. The mounting brackets are slightly different, so some drilling or other customization is needed to mount properly. I also had to splice different connectors for the turn signals.

I see you have a 5-lug truck. Keep in mind when looking for parts that 5-lug (2WD, non-Prerunner) trucks had a slightly different fender profile than 6-lug (4x4 or Prerunner, including 4Runner) trucks. A 6-lug bumper is wider than 5-lug. As far as I know they'll bolt up, but the body lines might be a little funky.
