Just upgraded from 2015 taco sport to 2017 sport 4x4 and I'm a little overwhelmed by the options out there. Pictures don't do any justice, but experience from other taco owners is far better.

What are good options for front bumpers that can really take abuse for potential accidents while protecting the front end, keeping you safe, and really aesthetically pleasing? I'll be real, any front bumpers that are good for a mad max scenario lol

    thanks for the info

Steel front bumpers are heavy as hell, and you'll feel that on stock suspension. Are you ok with potentially needing to upgrade your front suspension?

Good to know that. I didn't think about front steel bumpers, what about aluminum? Will that make you have to change out the stock suspension?

If you run just an aluminum bumper and no winch, you should be alright with stock suspension. Just keep in mind that aluminum ones are more expensive!

Here's a god thread to read through.

im leaning towards the c4fab front bumper but I also have 700lb springs coming for the front. An aluminum front bumper could be an option. Check pelfreybilt, cbi, and others for aluminum. C4's is only available in steel currently but for me, it's what I'm gonna get

I forgot to ask, where are you located? If you're near a vendor, that'd certainly sway the decision making process because you'd save a couple hundred bucks on shipping.

I'm in San Diego, but currently working in Bakersfield.... and being here is where I found out the value of having 4x4.

    Congrats OP!

I wouldn't look for the bumper to protect from accidents but other reasons as others do here. I'm no crash expert, but I would think you'd want to diffuse an impact.
But mad max is one of my favorites and will look kool as chit!
And btw, we need some pic of the new ride or

Just found out that pelfreybilt is in San Diego, looking at their stuff right now. I like how they have options for powder coating and line x.

The first thing I ordered was a diamond back truck bed cover, the one that can 450 lbs on top. I was going to get the stock Tacoma bed cover, but until I found out about how versatile and useful the diamond back truck bed cover with the 2 options to option open from the end and front of the truck bed, it was a must for me.

Oh geez! I'm personally not a fan of that. Looks entirely too bulky straight on. Just remember that with stock street tires, it'll look a little funny in my opinion. Here's example of the same number but with different tires/lift. This is an SOS Concepts bumper.

You're right Eatsleeptacos, I never thought about how it would look with stock tires... there's a lot to consider. This is why I am so happy getting information for you guys. I would have never thought about that until it was too late.... Maybe the pre runner bumpers will be better with stock tires.

If you get an upgraded bumper, is it wise to raise it too?

That bumper would be really bad ass if it didn't have the headlight hoops.
