    Hey Folks,

I've got a front facing NAKITA camera I want to add to the front grill on my 2017 Tac, which will tie into a carplay adapter from CARABC that I also just got. I'm wondering where the best place (read: easiest place!) to run the cable from the camera through the firewall. The end of the cable has a slim connector on it that's roughly ¼" in diameter, then tapers down to a roughly ⅛" cable.

Where's the best place to run this through the firewall so that I can route it to the area behind the main control panel/radio?

    Thanks!

There’s an easy grommet on the drivers side firewall (where the red and blue wires are going)

Pole a pick tool or a screwdriver through so you can see where it comes in the footwell. Cut a little x in the carpet material and just pop the wire through

On my Tacoma, there's no hole drilled through there, but I did find one on the passenger's side that had two, shall we call them, nipples, that were clearly designed for wires to go through. It turns out that the end of the cable I needed to pass through was a video RCA connector, more like ⅜" in diameter, so I had to make up a little nose for the end out of an air hose nozzle thingie. Then with the help of a little dish soap for lubrication, I was able to push the fitting through with the help of some needle nose pliers. Getting the cable from there to the space behind the radio was another adventure in coat hanger hackery. Anyway. I got it all in and working on the first shot. Pretty psyched to have car play and a front camera all going. I still have to mount the actual camera, but my slightly arthritic hands had enough fun for one day.
