    Front coils for ARB questions

Hello, I have a 2012 DC TRD off road PKG
I have pre-ordered an ARB for my 2012 and will be adding a Warn VR 10000 winch.

The weight of the bumper will be about 150 lbs and the winch is 89 lbs.
I have been following the 2012 ARB thread and did not want to add to some of the confusion so here is my issue.

Several members (OZ-T and Toy Yoda) have said that the OME 886 coils are my best option. I do not want to lift my truck; I only want to prevent sag due to front end weight. If I do lift the front end I would only want it lifted to level.

I should add that I am not very up to speed on the terms and options available for lifting. (I had to look up what the hell 5100s were). So please provide help in plain English with supporting links if needed. This will cut down on me requesting more of your time to explain what you are suggesting.

I found this and it helps but does not answer all my questions.
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/11282-tacoma-lift-faq-guide-read.html

    1. What is my lowest cost best solution for this issue?
    2. If I get the OME 886 coils, can I use my stock shocks or will I need the 5100s?
    3. If I get the OME 886 coils and the 5100s, what else do I need to buy (bushing kit etc…)? I need a shopping list.
    4. Will I need a coil compression tool?
    5. Can I get the OME 886 and 5100s assembled? (cost)

Once I get everything set, I will do a write up to help anyone else that may have these issues.

Thanks in advance for the help.

OME 886s are not recommend for install on non OME shocks. ToyTec sells the assembled or not (I think it's an extra $100). Don't forget the TW discount.
Or it might be cheaper to get the package with the 1.5" AAL
If you only want to level it I would install the bumper, winch, 886s and then see how much you might need to lift the rear.

Go with the 886's and OME shocks. Its what is designed to go under the truck with that bumper and its whats under my truck.

So just the front end correct? I do not have to do anything with the rear?

4Wheelin4Banger, thanks for the info and links

    You're gonna get 2 1/2 - 3" of lift with the 886's

Best bet for zero lift and zero sag is full coil overs with a stiff spring.

This way you can adjust it to exactly the height you want.

OZ-T, exactly what I am trying to avoid.

I get that the 886s are designed for the bumper winch combo but that is too much lift. I assume that even if I go with the 885s, it would still lift 2.5 - 3 inches and would be beyond the rated weight limit.

So Vantage what coil overs do you suggest.

    Are the OME shocks adjustable?

Maybe look at Eibach coils then , only rated for 1.6" lift and they have a stiffer spring rate than the 885's

How much did that run you and how much did it lift the front?

Ok guys, I just called Toytec and they suggested either one of these: or If you guys concur, I will go with the 599.00 option. Toytec says the main difference is that the 599.99 ones and the 809.99 ones is that the 809.99 version can be adjusted after mounting. I am ok with dealing with the put and take off till I get the sweet spot plan.

    Your thoughts?

    OME springs/shocks are not adjustable.

I would go for the whichever coil has a higher spring rate, either the 5100/eiback, or if Toytec will sell you a stiffer spring for their coil.

The 5100/Eibach will likely level your truck if you are into that. The springs give 1.6" of lift on a stock bumpered truck. So maybe 1" with the arb.

The toytec full coil over(option 2) will be completely adjustable so you can narrow it down to stock ride.

I vote for the Toytec full coilover. There would be nothing worse than getting the first option and being higher than you wanted. With a full coilover you can dial in exactly where you want your ride height, and if you ever get sag (which you will) you can adjust accordingly.

Vantage, thanks for your thoughts, good information for consideration. I don't mind leveling, I just don't want it higher than the rear and then have to lift the rear to get everything back to level. also i bearly fit in the garage now, any higher and the roof rack will take out the garage door. Since I only drive my truck on the weekends I do not want to leave it in the driveway to be abused by the elements and hail storms.

Just my opinion but I'd say spend just a little extra coin. Get a set of Kings from Downsouth Motorsports. Have them built and valved for the weight, get the 700# coils. Set the collar at the very top and call it good. You will get appx 2" of lift or less and the ride will be far superior to anything else out there. When you hit that unexpected dip or bump at speed you will be glad you are set up right and have shocks that can slow all the weight down.

    Exactly.

Kings are great coils, but unless you are going over high speed whoops they are completely overkill.

For the price, toytec or SAW (sway a way) would do the job for a fraction of the cost.
