    @averagejp great write up.

    BP’s website states “Off Road versions will need M12x1.25x40mm Bolts. (Grade 8 or higher)”

    I actually have an Off Road. I advise anyone buying bolts to educate themselves on HOW to properly identify a “Grade 8” Bolt. It can be very confusing. In one case, a head stamp on the bolt itself of “8” actually is not grade 8.

    Take your time, educate yourself. Not worth getting a recovery hook/device and putting inferior bolts on it.

    I agree with you 100% ! I have to admit it took me a while to figure out the bolt size and the grade (this is not my area of expertise!). I looked at Home Depot and then realized I don't know what I don't know. So I called these guys, read the line from the BP Web site (they also sent it to me) and they knew immediately what I needed. Drove over one day and picked it up so the good news is that I got the bolts that I needed.

    Solid advice ... and I should have mentioned that. :)

    Also of note but easy to miss, is that the driver’s side mount requires drilling an additional hole if you want it to be recovery functional. All in all, looks like a pretty good price for the pair.

    Totally agree. I was excited for the driver's side to come out. But then I found out it required drilling a hole in the frame ... and that was it for me. I am not that good and would be too nervous to do something like that !

    But for those who are more skilled than I am you get a pretty good recovery strategy on the front end for around $200 (they always have some kind of sale going on with reasonable / generous discounts).

    Of course at that point, it begs the question as to whether or not the ARB then is worth it at $267.

    BP's bracket bolts direct to frame. ARB bracket captures the frame as well.

    They appear to have raised their price from when I bought mine in October. Still, some other places are charging up to $122 for the same thing.

    Not trying to revive a dead thread, but the OEM bolts work. Cost was $5.80 each MSPR https://tinyurl.com/h6dep5s6

    EDIT--See my subsequent post.

    After acquiring the above OEM, I learned the following
    1. The OEM bolts are too long
    2. The smooth shaft on the OEM bolts extends at least one-quarter inch (about 1/2) of the welded on nut.
    3. You probably shouldn't use the OEM bolts

    The bolt needs to be about 2 inches long, i.e., needs to be about 50 mm long.

    4. You need a M12 bolt and washer, 1.25 pitch with 50mm of thread.
