The rear was done by a shop bc I got some water in it 2 days prior, but im going to do the front and the transfer case my self since i already did my manual transmission. Im at 30k. So my questions is the LSD additive only needs to go in the front diff not the transfer case correct? Also do i just fill each one until it comes out the fill hole?

    Thanks!

also i did read alot of the diy on this some people only did 1.6 qts then called it good.

It's hard to find non LSD additive in diff oil, I used it in my front, t-case and rear diffs. The front takes 1.6 qts and the t-case takes 1.1 qts.

I have a 2011, no LSD. Usually the LSD additive comes in a little tube. I used straight M1 75/90 in front, rear and TC. Make sure you loosen the fill hole before you do the drain hole to make sure you can put more in. I filled mine up till it started to weep out, plugged it up for a few minutes, added a little more till it came out again and put everything back together. Same method for each.

You don't need the additive as you don't have LSD. That is only for the rear end of TRD Sport's from 2005 to 08 or 09. Not sure about the TRD Sport part but you don't need to worry about it. Go get your favorite brand of proper weight gear oil and call it a day.

Correct, auto lsd is just a brake modulated lsd not mechanical with clutches that need the additive.

Be mindful what you put in the transmission as it can affect shifter feel. Redline MT-90 is reported by several members to give good results.

In the 2015 owner's manual, Toyota no longer lists GL5 as an approved oil type for the transmission, restricting it to GL4 and GL3. Not sure if if it's due to a minor design change in 2015 or if it's in response to long-term wear observations (which would affect 2005-2014 trucks as well). Most gear oil in stores is GL5. Redline MT-90 is GL4.

Front diff and transfer case are not heavily stressed unless you go off road often. Any name-brand 75W90 will do. I've personally tried Lucas syn and Castrol syn. Of the two, the Lucas oil stinks less so I'd recommend that.

I use all synthetic fluids in my truck. I got the M1 from Advance Auto Parts, my brother is a store manager so I get 20% off of everything.

thansk for your help gents. i changed it all last night new plugs and bolts and full synthetic fluid. mobil 1 75-90 paid 10 bucks a quart. front diff was dirty and had a paste of particles on the bolt but no big pieces, transfer case looked brand new still. went in and out of 4x4 a couple times just like butter also did 4low.

Mobil One 75/90 in the front and transfer case, 75/140 in the rear (was recommended by SpeedFreek as the rear does nearly all the work, 90% of the time).

Mobil One works on LSDs or Open Differentials, but keep in mind only 2005-2008 Sport Tacomas needed the LSD additive, as only they had the internal clutches and only in the rear diff.

    Purchased mine at Pep Boys.
