I don't read it has it must be 0.20" below the fill hole, I read that as the 0.20" is the minimum fill level. So if you pump that baby up so it oozes out on level ground you are at the 0" level of the bottom of the filler plug. It is written poorly at best though for the average joe to breeze through and figure out what the level should be.

Agreed. 0.20" below would be considered the minimum level. Although, I still smile because there is no reasonable method for the 0.20" to be measured.....

When I remove the fill plug, if nothing runs out, then I stick my little finger (I have short sausage fingers) in to feel for the fluid level. Generally, I'll just pump in some fresh fluid until it trickles out of the fill hole.

They probably gave it to the engineering intern who then passed it off to the English major to approve . Back when there was a 500 minimum word essay, the more jargon and fancy words you stuffed in a sentence the better it must be. I do the same, hope that it trickles out or if not, fill it up. But I'll be honest, I never "check" the differential levels if I never see an active leak in between fluid changes. So for me it's a drain and refill til she's overflowing a bit :D

I had to do it years ago on my Isuzu. Took a paperclip, straightened it out, put a 90 bed on one side. Wrapped one end with medical paper tape. Put thru the differential fill hole (making sure I do not drop it in!), pulled it out and measured how close the wet part of the pat was to the 90 bend. Pump more in, repeat as needed.

Loved my Axiom, but it was the same vehicle that did not have the rear differential drain plug, so I had to pop it open to drain, clean the magnets, reseal wait for it cure, then refill.
