Another question is, has anyone had experience with an A1 Cardone CV axle? I have ordered the inner seal from ECGS, but do I need to order dust seals as well if I replace the CV? Thank you for the help.

Thank you all so much. Stumbled on this thread in a Google search. Same story as many. Leveling kit and it DS vibration for 5 months. Would come and go. Not so bad with snowplow on. Changed wheel bearing thinking somehow I screwed it up. Took it apart and knew it wasn't it but changed it anyway since I bought it. Was ready to buy a DS and then found this thread. Changed the bearing for the ECGS bushing last week and it's gone, like magic. After watching the video I even made my own tools.

Not planning on using them again (hopefully) but I will loan them for the cost of shipping. I can take a CC for that payment and trust the return. I appreciate finding this thread and the fix. It was driving me crazy. PM me.

Long shot but does anyone know of a shop in Minnesota that is familiar with doing this repair?

Try Hooze 4x4 in Ham Lake. Not sure if they do it, but heard good things about them, they carry a full line of lifts and off road items, and install.

Would anyone be willing to share a tool list of everything I might need to do this? I want to make sure I have everything I need before beginning.

    Thanks

Took a screen shot of another members post which help me get all the tools needed. The one of the tools he rented is a little blurry, hope it helps 3DBB2F12-9095-4A6B-B08C-B3624B803F78.jpg942B7488-5ACC-4287-97F3-11EA3CF3E5AB.jpg

I'll chime in on the tools.

You can get this job done with a basic set of hand tools, large sockets and a torque wrench. Helpful pieces are a mini pry bar, dead blow hammer and mechanic's pick set. My bearing came out mostly whole, but I had to track down a few small metal shards. They were hiding in the channel behind the bearing seat. Those little picks were the only tool for the job.

Does any one sitll have vibes after the ECGS install? I've had mine installed for two weeks now, and while the vibes are much better I still have the rumble strip vibe at 80 KM/H that will disappear in 4HI. I installed an OME Carrier Bearing Drop and removed the diff drop that I had installed, with no difference.

Is this still an issue on the 2018 Tacoma's? I saw something about a TSB in February, and purchased my Tacoma at the end of April. Is it still going to be affected?

Reason I ask is I did not have this problem on my 2015 DCSB O/R after a 2" lift.

Do you trust your alignment and wheel balancing?

Not saying the ECGS bushing is or isn't the end-all solution. But I'm like you and can't say my truck is really that much different post-ECGS. Then again I didn't have a bad vibration I was trying to eliminate. I had leaking seals so I did the bushing because it was convenient. If anything I would say I'm pretty sure a low rumble I used to hear has now gone away, though.

BTW, I also have the OME carrier drop and do not have any front diff drop (never did). Running about 2.25" of lift.

need to learn more about this stuff
i did my own lift (meaning didn't use a shop) i did it at an adult shop class at the local highschool at night. 881 coilovers with bilsteins 5100 and a Headstrong 3 leaf AAL. got new tires (falken wildpeaks 265/70/17). didn't have any alignment done. no shakes. no wiggles. no issues with alignment. not sure why some people have issues and others don't. so weird. i kept asking the shop guy if i should do an alignment and he said "why". so i haven't and no issues.

I have a 2.5" OME lift and going to have my dealer install the ECGS bushing soon. My questions is I already have a diff drop kit installed. Is it OK to run the ECGS bushing with the diff drop kit?

I have the same amount of lift and ended up removing my diff drop. Do a little research on the forums and you'll quickly see that the diff drop doesn't do much for the 2nd/3rd gens.

Yeah. The diff drop was a "less invasive" recommendation by my mechanic as a way to remedy the rhythmic vibration caused by the needle bearing.

It is to eliminate the rubbing of the CV boot veins. I didnt have the drop kit on my diff, and they def rubbed, installed it and they have ample clearance. The only downfall is it lowers the diff in which case of SEVERE off roading someone hit a boulder and caused damage. Guaranteed of the tens of thousands out there with the diff drop, it hasnt happened. My 18 has OME 888's and Dakar medium duty leaf pack, had small vibration at 20-25mph, and a 3 degree shim fixed that. Other than that not one vibration at all.
