It has happened. It doesn't have to be severe offroading either all you need to do is hit a rock

I understand that...but on a ratio of how many THOUSANDS of diff drops installed....how many have had that issue?? Guaranteed waaaay more havent than have. It will definately help keep the cv boot line in check from having them rub an cause premature boot failure.

Does it totally eliminate boot rubbing? I thought it rotated the diff through arc so that the CV angle improves at the bottom but at the same time gets worse towards the back (as well as changing the front driveshaft angles, it tips the pinion up, right?). If it eliminates the bellows from rubbing each other around the whole 360 degrees then I might misunderstand them.

Anyone got the removal and install tools, got my local shop on par to do the work, would rather just pay shipping and keep the loaners being used than have a $110 bill collecting dust in the garage.
    Anyone??

I’m changing my CV’s with a friend that’s pretty handy. I have the bad vibration around 30mph with 5100s, figured I’d go ahead and install the ECGS while I’m doing the CVs to see if it’ll clear up the vibrations too. Common consensus to replace the seals as well?

Anyone willing to let me borrow their ECGS bearing puller? Or purchase?

Just to clarify, is this only an issue on the driver side or do you have to do the passenger side as well?? I just installed a 2" lift and now have the front end vibration noise. I just spent all weekend under the truck and am not sure I have the energy to now do this prior to a road trip this weekend. What is everyone seeing as far as price goes to get the ECGS bushing installed on a second gen. If its not outrageous I may just go that route rather than try and do it after work this week. Any help is appreciated.

The passenger side is different in design: There is an extension tube between the CV axle and the differential housing. That side does not requires the bushing.

Just to be sure this is the right fix for you, does the noise disappears when you engage the 4wd HI? If not then it would be a wheel bearing instead, or perhaps a combination of the 2.

Thank you! I am going to confirm that it goes away in 4Hi, but for some reason it isn't doing it as bad currently as it was this morning...I hear it gets worse in cooler temps so maybe tonight will yield a definite answer.

Ever wondered what the bushing looks like once installed on the differential carrier? Since I re-geared my truck, I had to swap my front 3.73 carrier with a 3.91 and up carrier. The new design does not requires the bushing anymore, but I got to keep the old parts. Honesty I am quite pleased with the work I made when I installed the bushing back in early 2014. I encourage everyone with basic skills to attempt this fix.

I ordered and received the ECGS bushing and install tool. Waiting for my 6112's to get here so I can do both at the same time. If anyone here lives in the bay area you can borrow the tool after I get done using it...just leave me a pm for details..
Updated removal tool, deburred edges, pinned the end nut to keep shaft from turning, drilled two holes for better alignment and keep driver from falling into diff with a wire, painted hi vis yellow, added two thrust washers for smoother operation.IMG_3411 (3).jpg
