Mine seems to have all the same symptoms but appears to lessen after I've been driving at high speeds. I have a 1.75 billy lift with LL uppers installed so hopefully the dealer doesn't jerk me around. Still have 10k on the warranty.

Mine has this issue at 27k. It's a 2010. I'm in the same boat as you glennv. Hope the dealer doesn't hassle me too much and agrees to replace it. A week ago the sound/vibe became very apparent.

So now I also have a vibration at 60 mph. Feels like driveshaft. Unfortunately if the work isnt covered under warranty I am selling the truck. I understand I modified it, but a two ionch lift? come on. I never had these iissue when i dropped my dakota. There is no way I am dealing with this kind of shit for the life of the vehicle. Too bad. It looks great lifted. plain jane stock. Will liikely get an F150 or something.

I know what you're saying. Ive got 20k miles on my truck and I have a light howling noise when I let off the gas at 60mph. If dealer wont fix it I may trade it in on a 2012. I'm trying to decide if it is the front diff bearing or the carrier bearing either way its extremely annoying

This should be a sticky for sure...... A question to those who have done this, has anyone had the vibration come back. Little worried that I will be putting a good amount of money into this thing and not have the problem fixed. Not mechanically inclined enough to tackle this one. Might be the final nail in the coffin for the tacoma and time to trade it in.

Ok so I have settled down a bit and am going to try and resolve this before ditching the truck. I went to the dealer and had an off the record chat with the service guy. It might be promising he said, they would have to look the other way on the lift kit. I said that toyota canada wont know the difference anyways. If they deny it, i will tackle the job after buying a slide hammer. Another tool in the arsenal! Its going in sometime next week for the last free factory oil change, wish me luck.

I have the same setup man, I am so aggravated about this stupid thing. We ought to be able to lift our trucks without this issue happening, I've had nothing but problems since I lifted it. I love the truck I just want to be able to enjoy it :(
Good luck man! Let us know how it goes!

Dealer said they can replicate the issue I've brought to there attention however there is nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle and nothing needs to be done. Then went into a bunch of BS about rear driveshaft angles which have nothing to do with what I've explained. Case closed they said.

I don't blame you. Wish I would have read up before buying a Taco because I probably would have chosen to go with a different vehicle. I've started a claim with corporate.

Lots of people have got it warrantied and some people don't have any issues after the lift. I'm just a little upset because I'm one of the ones that does have issues.

i only wanted to do the billies at 1.75 and the 1.5 aal in the rear, this just doesnt sound worth it anymore. i keep the billes and just upgrade the ride, leave them at 0 and get a helper spring for the rear. i wanted the lift and a little more ease when hauling anything.

when I got my truck it came with the 100k mile powertrain warranty, and I took it to my local dealer for the bearing issue, after I lifted....
Got it all taken care of, but they had to try 3-4 different things. But they pretty much re-built my front diff. even after I told them what and which bearing was bad.. (stupid dealer techs!) :)

But I think the key to getting your dealer to do the work, is for one. Your dealer should be a dealer that installs and sells tacoma's or ready lifted. And also make sure they know that the noise and vibe was there before lifting but got worse after you lifted.. "If its a lie.. oh well. How do they know" hehe...
And make sure you have diff drop spacers installed.

Agreed. Mine was only covered under goodwill because I had the diff drop installed. Second time would have been covered if it would do it with diff drop installed. Couldn't hear/feel it unless I removed the diff drop. Plus it was only covered at the .85 setting or below (I had gone up to 1.75).
