Ive owned 3 Tacomas and never had this problem. Doesn't sound right to me.

Brake lube on the brakes not pad side but between pistins.. make sure all the grease zerks are working they do get plugged at times and not letting grease into joints. Or vary rare and hopefully not this but happened on my 93. Check front diff play. Diff bearings may starring to go bad. But with only 55k on it doubtful.

mines clunking like a SOB, i know its the front brakes, I know its normal, I know its harmless to the truck, but lately its starting to bother me more and more, clack clack clack everytime .I added the upper retaining clip to the top caliper pin and it did nothing to stop the clacking, mine is so pronounced that I can actually hear the passenger clack first followed quickly by the drivers side.

If any of you have had an alignment lately check the torque on your cams.
This was the source of a clunk I was dealing with,
    Alignment shop didn’t torque cams
    Easy fix

adding to the thread resurrection - my truck is banging like a marine in a crayon store. What does that mean? I have no idea - but it sounds like i'm breaking my CVs every time I hit the brakes. I'll check the LCA cams, and do a brake job and see what happens. I guess.
