    2006 Reg Cab 4x4
I have an odd noise coming from somewhere in the front end of my 2006 Tacoma and am hoping someone on here can shed some light on the problem:

    (1) Noise can be best described as a “clunk” - sounds like metal on metal or something metal “binding”
    (2) Noise happens at REAL low speeds – barely crawling along in 1st or possibly 2nd
    (3) Noise also happens after I have come to a complete stop (for a short time anyway)
    (4) Noise happens both in gear and while coasting slowly in neutral (it’s a manual tranny)
    (5) Noise happens in both 2wd and 4wd
    (6) I can feel the “clunk” in the shift knob inside the cab when it happens
    (7) Under power (normal driving RPM’s) clunk either isn’t present or perhaps I simply cannot hear or feel it any more.

The truck has just over 40k on the odometer and has been well cared for. Of course given my streak of good luck lately the “clunk” started literally on the day the truck went out of warranty.

    Any input is greatly appreciated!
