I already am gong to the dealer tomorrow, but I have had a "clunking" under my left foot or left front end since 1/19 Sunday. I have driven through some snow and ice and cold weather, so I thought maybe I had some ice lodged in there. However, it has gotten a bit worse since Sunday. Any ideas?

Going up the to the ski area Sunday AM, wifey wanted it in 4wd for the snowy roads (a bit of a argument cause I really did not need it) so I did so for a few miles ~5mi at low speeds of 30mph or so.

    Any ideas - at ~ 35,5xx miles

I have a clunk and squeak intermittently. Sometimes it shows up after off-roading and sometimes out of no where. The latest is after my truck was sitting for a week when I was out of town.

I’ve heard people say it’s the front body mounts but I still don’t know. I figure the squeak is dust or corrosion in something but the clunkni have no idea.

I get a large clunk sometimes when my wheels are fully turned and I go off a little dip like my driveway. No idea what it is, it hasn’t really shocked me enough to get it check out but I’m curious to know what it is

Mine does it every morning leaving for work. (If I even notice it) It only makes the noise once. Its been like that for awhile. I just hit 50k today. haha. When I was home my friend heard it to and he thought it could have been the sway bar. I have no idea what it is though. Everything works just fine, nothing seems lose and I checked the torque on the front body mounts and just about everything else. I'm also curious to see what the dealer says.

Makes sense to me, thanks for the reassurance that it’s not an issue

Check the cab mount. A lot of complaints about this.

    Just a thought.

Hmm, I am intrigued. It initially only happened when turning, but now happens at all times as of yesterday and on the way to work today. I will let you know what the dealer says, thank you for the input.

I get the occasional clunk also pulling out of my driveway. Everything is tight, it's a mystery. Maybe one day I'll find out what it is when the mystery is laying on the sidewalk .

I've got a small clunk/creak when the turning at slow speeds on rough or angled ground. I can hear it when it's quiet and feel it if I really pay attention. Everything is tight, checked multiple times. Best guess is either sway bar, body mounts, or the eylete/bushing connecting the King front coilovers to the lower control arm since it can pivot a bit. Still waiting for aftermarket body mounts to come out.

My commute home today ( about 17 miles), no clunk and it in NH it really warmed up to ~28+ today. Also, after work to my friends house and back, this includes about 6 miles of snow covered dirt roads, no clunk. Since I nor my wife can really take time off to drop the truck off tomorrow, I am going to wait and see.

Did you ever get this in? Mine started doing it the other day, I took it in this morning and they tightened the strut top bolt. Clunk went away for a little bit, but its back again.

Same thing as your, feel it in the left foot, clunks all the time.

They ordered a strut for me, Im not sure they are going in the right direction though. The fact that the cab mount is right there where I feel it leads me to believe its the cab mount.

It went away, I guess it was a ice chunk...

However, two days later I got the solid engine light and then the "Trac off" light only under 30mph... Brought to the dealer, and claimed they did not see them. However, they claimed there was old codes that they cleared. Fast forward toyesterday, the lights both came back on. Well, back to the dealer tomorrow with photo and video evidence if they try to stat "could not reproduce."

I've only ever had a clunk running over the neighbors kids, or as we like to call em, "speed bumps".

I had this exact issue!!! The dealer had to lube/grease something in the front end. I apologize I don't recall what it was.

I was fortunate there is a U turn near my dealership which is a little off cambered. It made the clunk at full lock making that turn when we went to replicate the issue.

Check under the seat for that long lost beer bottle dropped on the way to the Super Bowl?

Can you hear it when you bounce the bumper? If so check suspension? Is it when you cut the wheel into dips? The check alignment. Is a squirrel stuck under the hood?

So mine has since gone away.

Given the conditions, I feel this is a rubber mount of some kind, one that can rotate.

Started after getting rotate and oil change. Truck went into warm shop for 1 hour
First clunk heard in parking ramp after hitting speed bump while turning wheels (temp 30 degrees)
Sound continued till I took to dealer
Went into warm shop, sound went away.
After sitting in parking ramp for 1 hour, (temp 30 degrees) sound returned.
Sound has since declined after much driving in the snow (temp 30 degrees)
today (temp -7 degrees) sound all but gone.

Sound I am hearing is a metal on metal, very solid sounding, its a limited movement sound, so it sounds like a bolt moving inside of a tube and hitting the sides. It can be felt on the left floor board, like someone banging on the floor with a wrench every time I hit a crack in the road.

The dealer says its the strut, but the body is isolated from the frame with rubber mounts, a rubber mount should not transmit this sound the way I am feeling it as it does. This feels like something that is cab mounted.

They refuse to take my advice and look at the cab mounts.

Sorry to reply to this old post, but just found it. Just came back from the dealer, mine's making a metal on metal clunk or tap sound when going over a speed bump fast enough. Dealer unable to replicate, but they had some kind of district tech in there today who advised them to replace both of my front struts. They are ordering the parts and calling me. Did replacing the strut on yours fix the issue?

No replacement strut was not done to mine, they did order one, but since I figured it out myself I didnt want them just throwing parts at it if they didnt fix the problem. I took a hammer and prybar and kicked all the ice out from between the cab/frame mount that right behind the front wheels. After that was removed the sound went away till the next time it packed with snow.

    Mine was very specific.

Heavy snowfall, packs wheel wells with wet snow, overnight temps need to be below -10 (road salt doesnt work below that very well) this causes the ice block to turn solid.

When the cab mounts flex, the ice does not and creates the banging on the floor I heard.
