in the last couple weeks I've noticed there is a noticeable hum/vibration coming from the front of my truck around 60mph and up. I jacked the truck up to check play in the wheel bearings and they are both tight. One thing I noticed is when I'm driving in a straight line and quickly steer to the right the noise goes away, it does not when I steer to the left. Does this sound like a wheel bearing? If it is I will probably go with the front wheel bearing/hub solution that bamatoy1997 has available.

It's not the needle bearing because I've changed that out to the egcs bearing a couple years back when I lifted my truck.

    What do you think?

I replaced a wheel bearing on my friends FJ cruiser, it was tight when I jacked up the car to check it, but when I rotated the wheel you could hear the difference from the good bearing to the bad one. Same symptoms as yours, made noise/humming when driving

Thanks, I'm assuming it's the drivers side that is bad. What bearing did you go with?

I went with the factory Toyota bearing, i had to get the old hub pressed out of the old bearing and pressed into the new bearing. I took it to NAPA auto parts, they have a machine shop where I live. It was $208 for the bearing from toyota, and $65 for the pressing/machine shop work. Toyota quoted me $597 to do the job parts and labor.

I have the same symptoms (noise goes away turning to the right ) I replace the passengers side and that didn't fix it ..... did replacing the driver side bearing resolve the issue?

Yeah I replaced the drivers side, I was able to hear and feel the issue from the drivers side wheel bearing, after replacing it there's no more problems

Thanks...... I should have checked here first, I thought it was the passenger side and the dealership said the passenger side as well. Now I'm thinking of trying the old bearing to see if it is still good.

If you lift the wheel off the ground and spin the wheel you should be able to hear the bearing, if it's bad it'll make noise sometimes not too loud, almost sounds like there is sand in it, and if it's bad you'll notice the wheel spin for a while when you spin it by hand, when the bearing is good it's a bit tighter and doesn't spin for long when you rotate it. I. Would lift up both front wheels and compare both sides since you already did the passenger side you'll have a good comparison
