    ALL,

I have had this popping noise on my passenger front side for awhile. It happens when I start my truck... accelerate from a stop, slow down to a stop, when I roll over dips or pot holes and when I slowly make sharp turns in parking lots... it almost sounds like my front fender or bumper is loose or something. I just recently had my OME 881 and billys installed... I have read it could be the transmission mounts or body mounts as well.
I am 100% sure. Has anyone had this issue? its driving me crazy. :annoyed:

    I have a 2000 Tacoma prerunner 2WD V6

    Poorly repaired body damage, etc.
Do you have aftermarket skids? I had a phantom front end noise for months, turned out to be the transfer case contacting the skid plate.

Other possibilities are sway bar end link bushings going bad, and worn out power steering rack bushings. These have both caused front end noise on my truck.

I'd visually check your transmission mount before you order one, I replaced mine with OEM and the old one was totally fine. And it's not a cheap part. (Manual Trans)

I would look inside the wheel well and see if you see anything hitting first or loose first.

I changed both CV axles, steering rack and both front wheel bearings and my mystery popping noise is gone!

Check the skid. Easiest check. Mine had the same problem, tightened it, and was good to go.

thanks all for the responses. I will check to make sure my skid plate bolts are tight.... then I will check to see if the aftermarket sway bar links I installed about 2 years ago are going bad, then after that I will be sure to check the inside of the wheel well to make sure nothing is loose or outta place...

I will update this thread once all this is completed.

I'll go with the sway bar, based on your occurrence description, even though you boldly proclaim it's not suspension related.

Even if the links are still good, they may be binding. Depending on the style of link, it could be possible that cleaning and lubing would cure the issue.

Did you torque the movable (pivot) locations to the proper torque, and was it with the suspension in full droop or loaded?

Over torqued and/or torqued in droop will cause binding. If that's the problem, it won't be long till the rubber of the mounts are all torn up.

Its most likely like the others said relateted to the sway bar. IMO with your new coils you probably wouldnt notice if you just threw your sway bar in the scrap pile.

Only other thing i could think of is your UCA hitting the coils or binding.

Just have someone drive circles slowly while you watch all the suspension and you should find it pretty quick.

Luckily mine have torn UCA boots so I'm thinking to start at the UCA's is a fair idea (160k)

I went up under the truck this morning and noticed the right side sway bar link bushings are starting to tear... when I replaced my sway bar links I purchased a cheap brand from AutoZone... any recommendations on which kind of links to get?
