Noticed recently a rattle coming from the front somewhere. Can't seem to locate exactly where as it only happens when I'm accelerating. Sounds almost like a heat Sheild or something vibrating? Wondering if anyone has had this same sound or knows a common spot and has a quick fix for it. On an 09v6 manual trans

Description is too vague to help you out. You need to strap a go pro or something g and get some sound.

Yeah, it's a long shot. The sound isn't loud or anything just sounds like somewhere up from a slight rattle noise when I give it throttle. Thought maybe someone might have a good idea of a spot to look for.

I'm not sure I'll crawl under and have a look. It only rattles when the gas is applied

You ever figure out your rattle? I have one as well, but on hard acceleration only. Manual trans too. I was thinking heat shield or Cat, but haven't got a cam in there yet.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the cat, or the shield around the cat. I laid under and banged it with my fist and heard some rattling. Same as you 09 v6 manual. Going slow if I shift to 2nd and give it some gas you can hear it rattle at its loudest.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
tap on things with a rubber mallet til you find a rattle.
My recent rattle during accel was caused by gravel in the heatshield of driver side cat.

Does it sound like marbles rattling around inside of a can while accelerating? From under the hood? That sounds exactly like pre-detonation or spark knock to me. Bad gas or bad spark plugs would be my first guess, unless you're supercharged and put low octane fuel in it by accident.

i have tried a few tanks of higher octane 100% gas with no luck. I also have some plugs i need to put in it, that are long overdue. Just havent found the time yet. Coaching t-ball has soaked up most of my free time. But thankfully, its almost over. 1 more week, Thank the sweet baby Jesus!:woot:

Dear god, let me tell you. There are some crazy ass tball folks out there. We literally went over written rules for a tball tournament for 90 minutes, with everyone arguing about every little bit. I was like, just tell me when the hell we play so i can go home. Oh, and dont forget to bring all your damn birth certificates to the tball tournament. I just cant help but laugh at these freaking people.

Okay, granted I'm an old fart....heck, my son is probably older than you guys moaning about coaching, but I tell you that some of my best memories are the times when I was able to coach my son.

Yeah, some parents can be a real pain in the butt. Interestingly, it was usually the moms that were the biggest pains in the posterior. But it's a great opportunity to relate to your kids on a different level and it allows them to see you in a different light. I was able to teach my son sportsmanship and how to relate to other kids. I like to think that I demonstrated fairness to all the kids I coached. Some of my boys came from homes that were not very supportive of what their children were doing. Those kids needed someone to show a little concern for them.

Enjoy it, guys. Your kids will be grown and gone before you're ready for it. Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

Yea the "kids" are like 6'4 265lbs and there 12 supposedly

Although when I was 13 my parents helped me forge a copy of my birth certificate so I could race motocross ... that was crazy shit lmao . I was a big kid at 13 (6'3 180) and technically I could only be allowed to ride a 90cc bike .... there's no freakin way I was riding a 90 lmao . So we fudged some numbers so I could race a 250cc and it was kinda scared at 13 racing against all older adults

Dont get me wrong, we have fun at our practices and most all my parents are even keeled. Its when we have to deal with some of the other teams that it gets tiresome. You know, the teams where the league president has "fired" a coach mid season. Their words, not mine. Usually if they are too crazy, we just tell them they can have the win, if they just shut up and let us play ball with out all the arguing and so forth. That usually works, cause thats all they are worried about anyway, lol.
