    Hi guys,
Im sure this has been posted about a few times but I'm new to TW and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have an 08 double cab 4x4 and I just purchased a 3" toytec lift but the front end needs some attention. The current rough country shocks are busted and my tires are wearing in weird places andI noticed my cv boot on the drivers side is wet so I'm sure that needs replaced also. While I'm doing the lift I'd like to go ahead and replace any other components that are typically bad or on there way out. My truck has 200k and I've recently replaced the wheel bearing , rotors and brakes but thats about it. Any advice on what I should look for or replace would be very helpful. I've seen a few kits but I'm not sure what all I need and I'd like to stay oem as much as possible if I can afford to do so!

    • Bushings in control arms/ball joints - For uppers, just replace them if you can afford it. Aftermarket options will help you get back into a decent alignment once lifted. Light racing/JBA/dirt king are good options that are on the lower end of price. Lowers, moog sells complete replacements for about $100 each. They're awesome.
    • Your lower control arms may be seized where they mount to the truck. So you may need new alignment hardware too. You're more prone to this if you live somewhere where rust is a thing.
    • CV Axles - Your boots are likely cracking and it's only a matter of time before they fail once you're lifted. You can get an OEM kit with new boots and grease, or just totally replace them. Napa sells good replacements.
    • Tie rod ends - Inexpensive and easy to replace. May as well while you're in there.
    • Steering rack - are you sure it's your CV that's wet and not your steering rack boot? They look similar and are in a similar spot and the steering rack boot will typically get 'wet'. That's indicative of a failing rack. When CV boots fail, they just sling grease everywhere.

You of course don't have to replace all of these things, but this is a pretty complete list to have a totally fresh front end suspension wise.

Thanks for your reply! So far I ordered uca from jba and a TRQ tie rod end kit thanks to your recommendation. I'll check to make sure its not the steering rack but i did notice that both cv boots are wet on top. I'll have to give it a better look to see if its coming from somewhere else. I live in GA so we don't see alot of snow but ill prob get the alignment hardware just incase.
