Lol, yea. They did in fact just get a bad batch of bushings, so I believe they are waiting on their supplier.

I just contacted spc about this issue. I was told to test for play my loosening the bolt and check for play in the bushing.. what axis has been bad in your bushings? It feels like a front to back shimmy on mine over small bumps.. I'm torqued to factory spec is this the same issue yall have had?

Interesting...I hear a clunk when braking hard/corners too. I'm on stock UCAs tho.

Just went back and viewed your clip. Looks like you've got the previous version that had arms that were welded to the joints. I wonder if the new versions have the same issue.
That's a hell of a lot of play btw, wow! How long were they acting up before you spotted the issue?

That's common. Get an additional retainer clip for your front brake pads.. it stops them from shifting around you should be able to search the forum and get your issue sorted. It's a cheap fix.

What's the climate like where you live?

I'm in California, and with our moderate climate it was literally not possible to replicate the problem in my garage. I've been wrenching (professionally for 5 years) my whole life and the only way I was even able to assure that the SPC UCAs were bad was to put the stock UCAs back on. Others, in warmer climates have been able to simply replicate the issue by rocking the truck.

Either way they shouldn't make you jump through to many hoops at this point, with the known bushing issue. In my opinion, if you've checked the torque on all your bolts and disconnected your sway bar and it's still clunking in your floor board (usually worsening with increase in temperature) then they should add you to their list for replacement, no question.

My recommendation is that you go through your vendor, they'll likely get more traction with SPC.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I'm in Vancouver bc. It does get warm here but rarely more than 90°
Unfortunately I had to get rid of my stock arms after my install because I lack storage space in my condo!
I'll talk to my vendor and see what they say

4runner guy here but I had to join after reading this thread. Same exact symptoms here on the latest version of these UCA’s with the x-axis bushings. It been driving me crazy. Everything was installed and torqued by a professional mechanic.

I thought at first it was my sway bar bushings or end links. Had some grease coming out the end link so I assumed that could be the culprit. Bought new end links and sway bushings. Replaced the sway bar bushings only and seemed to go away. Hooray. Drove to work and the sound was back... Totally removed sway bar the next day and still had the noise. Obviously didn’t try the end links at that point.

Just this morning leaving my complex I hit some speed bumps at a slow speed. No clunk. Ran my errands and came across the same speed bumps. Clunking was back. There’s definitely something to the heat. I’m in Las Vegas so I’m screwed there.

Long story short I’m on the waiting list for replacement arms with new bushings. 5-6 weeks I was told as of today. They’re having me re-use the balljoint from the first set. I’d rather not re-use anything but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that these will be better. Till then I’ll be clunking away day after day... If the new ones don’t work I’m going to scrap em and go with another option.

I’m hoping they don’t screw up my alignment when re-installing. Don’t want to drop more cash on that as well. Quite frustrating.

Keep us posted if you hear or receive anything.

You don't have to touch the LCA cam bolts to swap the new UCAs in so it won't mess up your current alignment.

Just be sure to note which position your current UCAs are in (A,B,C,D,E) and also measure where the camber slide adjustment is sitting on each UCA (If it's maxed out toward the wheel like mine, even easier, no measurement needed), and then just make sure your new SPC UCAs are set the same way when installing.

Just got off the phone with SPC, they are sending my new arms today, said I should see them here in California in a few days. They only charged me $50 for the core deposit on the original arms.

Not sure how many claims they're getting to this week - think I was relatively high up on the list - but the guy I talked to was working on 15 today.

I'll probably throw the new ones on this weekend so I'll keep you posted.

Did you call them or did they contact you? Crossing my fingers for ya. Outside of the clunk my 4runner drives great. Can’t wait to get mine fixed.

I called in last week and they told me that they may have something in this week, so I called them yesterday to check in.

It sounded like they were reaching out to people, but because I called to check in they dealt my claim while I was on the phone - not sure if it was just because I was high up on the list, or maybe because I bug them so much, lol. Also, keep in mind it seems like a bit of a process, I was on the phone for about 20-30 minutes getting everything sorted.

I would give them a call, couldn't hurt. They seem to be in good spirits over there - probably stoked they got some replacement parts in.
