Did you receive a tracking number for your replacement arms?

Not in the email but I’m signed up with UPS so when I have an incoming package I get an email and it had the tracking number on there.

Replacement SPC arms are quiet and feel tight so far... I got my alignment sorted out yesterday. The alignment shop found that both my front adjustment cams (right and left sides) were completely seized on the LCAs, they had to try several ball joint position settings to work around the seized cams, took almost 2 hours to work out the best compromise.

Cutting out the frozen cams is something for me to look forward to in the near future...

So some of my alignment issues may have been unique to me. SPC does recommend getting an alignment after "replacement of any locating component". They were quite helpful, and emailed me back a lot of technical info and additional tips regarding the alignment process using their adjustable ball joint / star plate setup, some good stuff that's not included on their published install sheet.

I purchased my LR UCA's earlier this month and was planning on installing it tomorrow. After reading through this thread I am a little worried about the common theme of the clunking noises. I have Kings 2.5 extended coilovers up front so I need the new UCAs installed sooner than later. I purchased my set from Headstrong offroad. Was the noise apparent right after install?

For me it was. To be honest if I were to do it again I would have spent the extra cash on another brand. FWIW they’ve been great about handling the situation. Luckily I can do the install myself.

@SR5T4R Its my first truck and first time installing my suspension so I am fairly new to this. I still have them in the box but I think for the time being, I can use them for a year or two before upgrading again. Ive heard the Extended travel COs should have uniballs but I spent most of my allotted money for suspension on the Kings front and rear.

Received mine a couple days ago and installed them yesterday. I got my alignment and every things really tight with no noise. I got used to the slight movement and clunk that i feel like im driving a different truck lol. I dont regret getting SPC as I as well do the installs myself and i have a lifetime alignment. I think SPC handled the issue well and sent out replacements in a timely manner and the customer doesnt have to pay shipping fees.

I am in the same boat right now, purchased new SPCs this month (September 2019) and immediately after install started hearing the clunking noise. It's more apparent on the driver side but can be felt on the passenger as well. An easy test is to grab the UCA and have someone rock the truck back and forth. Likely the result of a bad batch of bushings.

I've reached out to SPC and going through the process of getting another set. The thing that frustrates me the most is I just had an alignment done (Cost $120) by RMP in Socal and will most likely need another. I've read if you set the ball joint position the same you may not but unsure how true this is. Anyone have any input?

1 week update and all is well. No more slow speed clunking. I didn’t get an alignment after. I’ll keep an eye on tire wear but it drives perfect and handles great. Respect to SPC for handling these cases so quickly. Thanks for starting this thread.

Finally found the time to throw my replacement UCAs back on this weekend - only took about 1.5 hrs this time. Everything went very smooth, no more clunks. @Mdsimmons7 there is no need to loosen your LCA bolts so as long as you put your replacement UCAs back on with the same exact settings you will not need another alignment.

Also, your "easy" test doesn't work for people in colder climates. As one of the original people with this issue, the only way I was able to diagnose the issue was to rule out absolutely everything else and then swap my stock UCAs back on, which finally got rid of the clunking - which pointed to the UCA bushings - at that point SPC finally acknowledged the issue.

Start to finish - from the first clunk to today - took about 8+ weeks, and a ton of diagnostic time, and I'm still happy with my choice for SPC UCAs. They are a high quality company with great customer service and a good warranty.

@Zachh805 Good point on the colder climate. I didn't take that into consideration since it's still in the 70s during the day where I am located.

I received my replacement UCAs last week and installed them. Clunking completely gone. SPC was really helpful in providing everything including a prepaid return label to send back the bad arms.

I have the same freaking issue.. Bought mine almost 1-1/2 years ago..Never really paid attention to this since I always thought it was my 5100s.. Just got new Kings and still have the same damn noise... really don't want to deal / pay for this..

I hadn't heard of the this issue going back that far but I could be wrong. I think for must of us the bushing issue was less of a noise and more of a feeling in the floor board.

But if you call SPC and explain your problem they should send you out a set of replacement arms - you'll just pay a $50 core charge and they provide a paid return shipping label. Swapping the arms is pretty easy and should take the average person about 2 hours, 3 max. And you will not need to get another alignment.

..So the good news is it won't be to hard to "deal / pay" for this. Good luck!
