Looking for advice on how far to go with front end work. I know I have torn boots on lower ball joints and tie rod ends. Did wheel wiggle test and pretty sure I have a bad tie rod on the drivers side, very slight movement. Have replaced shocks and springs already but seems there's a little play when hitting bumpy roads. Just looking for OEM stock performance. I've searched here and read up a good bit but still not sure what all to target. Plans are to replace upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends. Wondering if I should replace all bushings while I am at it. Control arms, steering rack etc. A bit of advice from anyone having tackled this would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning toward doing this all one time but ignorant of what all that means.

My question is: How far should I go with replacements?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I’ve been wandering the same thing, my passenger side upper ball joint failed a couple months ago and I replaced them on both sides. Recently got new tires and wanting to replace what is necessary before getting an alignment. 98 sr5 3.4 4x4 with 185k miles

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
How you use the truck also comes into play. Hard Core Off Road or dirt roads now and then.

I replaced all the steering and suspension parts at 125,000 miles . But for the Steering Rack still good at 250,000 miles

How are your Coil overs time for front Shocks??

Make sure your Cam Bolt are free or have new ones so the front end alignment can be done

My Bushings are still Good at 250,000

Your truck preemptive maintenance never hurts .

    Good Luck!

Limited off road use, just around the farm or hunting. Coil overs are OEM, just replaced the shocks and reused them. May revisit that but will still use OEM style units. Assume cam bolts are free, had front end aligned at least twice in last 5 years. Thanks for comments.
