I’ve installed a front Curt hitch right after buying my truck last year. Just wondering who else has installed one?

My reason is for trailering and parking in tight spots I can flip around and front a trailer into tight spot. Plus, with the huge reverse gear with the manual, it works better going forward and saves the clutch.

I’m planning a Warn winch hitch mount carrier so can winch from front or rear and carry it in the bed or in the garage when not using it.

I’m aware of the loss in approach angle, but it’s really not that much lower than the air damn that everyone takes off.

put same hitch on my '16 last year for same reasons. Works perfect. No winch for me.

I agree! I have a mate that welded a receiver hitch to his Arb bar. I think a front hitch, in any capacity is a great option.

Good for carrying those really long loads too.

Nice! I’ve seen the same thing with owners using the front hitch for an oversized canoe on top.

I’ve read a lot about their hitch, looks great. My only two issues are you have to trim your bumper and I don’t like the two scackles just laying on the top of the plastic bumper.

Plus $400 with shipping is quite steep.

Looks pretty good. Very minimalist approach. I like it.

You could also use this for a poor-man's skid plate

The problem is that’s going to hang down even more than the hitch

Right. That is how all skid plates are set up.

I went with the Mobtown recovery bar. Zero regrets. I like the way everything sits higher and I didn't reduce my approach angle.

@mcdean Do you have any more close up pics of your Mobtown hitch installed, especially where/how you mounted your electrical disconnect and how much you had to cut into the grill surround to make everything fit well? Looks great!

@coarsegold1 I ran direct off the battery to a buss bar then ran cables front and rear.

The front connector is attached to the recovery bar via an aluminum bracket (sheared off one of the bolt heads and figured three screws is enough).

    20180319_124350.jpg

The rear connector is attached to the rear bumper with another piece of aluminum.

It's actually a pretty clean setup and I didn't mind trimming the grill as the installation is permanent.

That one’s nice, how easily does it mount to the frame and does it interfere with skid plates?

I put in a Curt front reciever hitch for maneuvering my trailer and as a good recovery/pull point too. Have not had any approach angle issues with it offroading yet...
