I have the Curt front hitch also; no issues and simple to install. Like in previous post, the skid plate comes off for install and easily put back same way.

i love this idea for use with a removable winch. that curt looks way too low for my application

I agree. I didn't know this could be an option too. I was previously looking into getting the U.S. Hidden winch bumper, but the idea of having am winch on all the time is not ideal for me.

Thank you for posting the pics as they are very helpful. It is interesting to note the mobtown or other high mounted receivers would sit about where your block heater cord protrudes. This is better for a winch but lower mount may be better for a snow plow imho.

Can you weld? We could always see about retrofitting your current CBI and send you the metal to do so.

Yeah, we discussed that before... The recovery points you make won't work directly on the CBI. I might as well have someone local make those for me and my buddy will weld them on.

For those viewing this thread - From my conversations with Joe, he is really helpful and good about returning messages. I'd highly recommend doing business with him.

Any suggestions for hitch less expensive if I just wanted to put a basket on the front to put a cooler and camping gear in for when I have the bed full of 2 kayaks?

It will probably cost just as much to have something lighter fabbed (only other real choice). If you do it right, you'll be glad you did.

Not sure of the cost but a bolt on canoe carrier would allow you to carry the kayaks and still have the whole bed to use.

i forget who made it, but its a bumper / winch mount that takes place of the center lower valance, you keep the stock bumper cover but you gain a full center front skid and it looks bad ass, if i were to buy a bumper it would be that.
