Does that even matter? It’s not like someone is going to use it to tow a boat down the freeway in reverse or, worse, push it down the freeway. I’m sure it’s fine for pushing stuff around in the yard. :)

If it’s winching rating you are referring to, I don’t think a hitch’s load rating is the same thing as a recovery point’s rating. Come think of it, I’m guessing a hitch with a 3500lb tow rating likely would have a much lower recovery gear rating. Hitch load rating refers to the weight of the trailer. Recovery gear rating refers to the force the device is capable of being exposed to. So a hitch with a 3500lb recovery gear rating would need to be capable of lifting 3500lbs off the ground safely.

You're absolutely right imo, just needs to support a few hundred pounds to have enough safety factor, for anything I would use it for.

Florida man might do exactly that :humble:someone find the news article...or more likely video?

@MattiasdelTaco Looks great. What I would probably do is mount the hitch first then try and mount the skid plate and from there. If you have something to cut it with just mark it up with a marker. I'm pretty lazy I think I paid $260 installed I just don't have a ton of tools or patience.

I have the Curt #31075 installed on my 2023 SR Access Cab.
I did remove the useless air dam.
Despite the naysayers here, it is perfect for my needs of steering hitch mount trailers into very tight spaces.
I am 100% delighted with the quality of the receiver.

@frankybones - Big thanks for the pics! I've seen a couple posts about this and know there's verbiage in the instruction manual that says the TRD skid plate has to be modified, but your pics help a lot! I'm interested in one to mount a bike rack as my trailer doesn't allow me to carry it off the rear when towing.

Sounds like a deal. Mine was about same price and free prime shipping, a real bargain. Entirely satisfied

Does the front end need to be taken off as seen in the pics on etrailer.com?

Any whimp can tow a boat down the highway.

It takes a real man to PUSH a boat and trailer at 65mph. ;-)

I use my front receiver for my SnowSport plow. Works great.

    No.
Installing the CURT receiver is straight forward.
I did remove the plastic air dam, and kept it removed.

It is pointed out that the CURT unit is not rated as heavy as other receivers.
My use is for modest trailer and tongue weights.

I don't have what it takes to push a full size trailer down the freeway at 65 mph.
    :D
