I'm back to looking at this hidden hitch from because between that and the other recovery points that's all I really need, especially since it doesn't hang down low.

They've been on back order for long enough to make me think it'll be months before I see one.

Does anyone else make anything like it? I know, a bumper would be great but I prefer not to hang 180 pounds of steel off the front of the truck or shell out the big bucks for aluminum.
    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like they have a 4 week turnaround and I can live with that. That said, maybe someone else would like an option, so if you know of one post it here.

I was thinking of cutting a 2.5 in hole in the stock aluminum bumper of my 2nd gen and welding in a 1/4 wall aluminum hitch receiver. So I could put a bike rack and 2 in shank mounted winch winch. I would just use a black plastic hitch plug when not in use.

Tacoma world; do you think the stock bumper is strong enough to pull off of?

I think adding any winch in that way is a good way to pull a bumper off TBH.
