Front IFS 7.5" E-Locker and rear 8.4" E-locker

    Just 1 switch haha. I can tell you coming from the Truetrac which constantly spun both tires, sometimes that is a pain in the ass off-road cause the rear will slide downhill, sometimes pulling you into a mess you were trying to avoid. You also don't have to worry about any auto locker quirks while driving in rain or snow conditions.

    I've heard have an auto locker with a manual trans can cause funky driving too. Cause of the constant loading and unloading of the drivetrain when shifting can make the locker do funky things

    Took my truck out to test the new locker. Works good. Instant activation. The only thing I can say that is kind of weird is once you activate it, there is like a quarter tire rotation before it's locked, so you kind of have to baby it until then. Otherwise it's a harsh engagement. You can see this in the video. I'm not sure how that compares to ARB, but it's just kind of weird. I only notice this in the rear too. The front diff doesn't seem to need as much rotation to lock.

    You'd have to talk to the supplier and get enough interested buyers. So far most people are just intrigued, cause the ARB is cheaper.

    We keep them in stock as best we can. Sales come in spurts so sometimes demand exceeds stock on shelf. Our logistics model is to ship by air as needed so they are no more than a week out.

    We love to sell these - feels good to make people smile. That said, group buys are problematic for several reasons, at least in our opinion. Here is the bad news and the good news.

    BAD NEWS
    1. For it to be a "group buy" there needs to be a single buyer representing the group, with a single payment to the vendor.
    2. Group buys work well with a simple product that do not require professional installation - bumpers, roof top tents, refrigerators, lift kits, winches, etc. An elocker is a pretty complicated item and in most cases will need to be supported by a professional - even if you pull the carrier/clamshell and send it to someone like www.gearinstalls.com for set up of the diff, gears, etc.. We work closely with our customer's installers where possible.
    3. Group buys don't generally work well when technical questions are likely - HOW, WHY, WHERE, WHEN, WHO, etc. since SOME vendors will only respond to questions from the "group buyer" in #1 above.
    4. If there are questions, challenges, unmet expectations, etc. both the end buyer and the vendor lose and the vendor or product take the hit.
    5. For these reasons (not economics) we don't do group buys.
    GOOD NEWS
    Given the variable demand for these units, we don't know how many buyers will step forward or when (unless there is a sale going and we don't do those often). As a result, we keep enough Harrops on the shelf to meet immediate demand for most popular units. We use air freight or air express depending upon order size and urgency. With advance notice,w e can reduce shipping costs somewhat if not a rush item.

    So here's the deal - we might be able to reduce pricing somewhat if folks are not in a screaming hurry for receipt of their product, on a pre-paid order. We could collect individual orders (not a group buy) with a good discount (say $75/locker), for delivery to you a couple weeks out. Buyers get direct support from us and no need for the "group buyer guy" to collect money, etc.

    I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a set of front and rear Harrop e-lockers for my 1999 Tacoma 3.4L MT (non Off Road edition/No OEM rear locker). Does anyone know a good source for cores for the front and rear clamshells? I can't afford for my truck to be down for a week while I send off my clamshells for the e-locker install. I'm pretty sure I have a 8.4" rear clamshell, and a 7.5" front clamshell.

    Should I just upgrade the gears at the same time through East Coast Gear Supply and let them handle the cores and Harrop install too?

    Another guy is crazy like me!

    ECGS has cores for both front and rear. Regear is completely up to you. You're gonna get new gears anyway in the cores, so might as well if you need it. They can handle front and rear Harrop installs. They only did my front, but they can do the rear. It's a simple install.

    Haha! Yeah. IMHO this Harrop e-locker setup is better than the OEM setup. And 10x better than an ARB setup. Do you mean they include new gears when you buy a new 3rd member?

    I just installed a full 3" OME lift with Dakar rears and 33" BFG ATs. I am on OEM 4.10 gears. I like the way it drives with the OEM gears and the taller tires, but wouldn't be opposed to swapping to 4.56 or 4.88. I noticed it does bog a little if I try to idle up a hill in 1st without giving it any throttle.

    You'd probably be happy w 4.56 with your drivetrain and 33's. I have used to have a V6 MT w 33's and always wanted to regear to 4.56. Seemed like it bogged quite a bit esp up hills

    This gear ratio would only put you ~100rpm higher than stock 4.10 w 31's

    I enjoy being able to cruise interstate at a low rpm, plus if I had the manual tranny (behind the V6 at that), I'd stay with the 4.10s. Don't get me wrong, it's not a powerhouse, but it's more than fine for me.
    But it's about where YOUR priorities with the truck lie.

    Yes their 3rds are rebuilt with new seals, bearings, and gears.

    Honestly I think you'd be ok with 4.10s on 33s with the manual trans. I think I'm overgeared with an auto 2.7 on 4.56s. Your trans has a higher 5th gear then an auto so 4.56 is a little steep. They may have 4.30 gears. That's probably what I would get.
