@Joe23 Owners manual jack point is nowhere near the OR's factory skid. See picture below.

The spot in post #2 is the one mentioned in the FSM to use with a floor jack to get the entire nose in the air to where you can then put jack stands on each side. It's in the center, further forward than this spot. (ahead of the front axles in fact)

    gpb,
Many thanx for the great pic for the front jack point!

Just took delivery of my 2018 SR and I'm in the process of Fluid Film coating the under carriage and my "last stop" is to remove each wheel, and slather a generous portion via pig bristle paint brush of FF on the inside/inboard of each steel wheel. I called the FF factory in Eureka Springs, CA, and talked with their tech guy, "Bob," who assured me the lanolin-based FF will NOT harm oil resistant tires or CV boots when centrifugal force spins the stuff out. (FF WILL swell the rubber door mouldings and seals, tho.)

Man--you ought to see my 2001 Silverado steel wheels here in Ohio--the Winter rock salt & brine capital of America! They look like someone took an acetylene torch to them and melted them--the corrosion is THAT bad. Four, maybe five years here with an "untreated" vehicle--and it's junk--literally!

    P.S.
I think I'll mention to the Toyota folks at their HQ that it would great to have a permanent bright paint spot ("Dayglo Orange" mebbe?) or some permanent "marker" at all jacking location points. My 73 y/o eyes need all the help they can get!

    P.P.S.
This got the better of me and I just crawled underneath my SR. Guess what? At that exact jack point for the front wheels--that hole in the cross member--I have a rather obvious bright GRAY plastic insert! You can't miss it! WOILA!

    Thanks, Toyota!

    Cheers, Brothers!

I always wondered this. Because if you take your truck into a shop and they put it on their rotary lift... they never check the exact points from the manual and I think just put it on the frame rails. So these points in the manual are only for jack stands?

thank you Ridered67 (post 23) for that info. i as wondering the same as i just used a floor jack for the first time on my ‘99 Tacoma. true story. it’s been maintained by the same shop in SF, Ca since my first oil change.

he’s out of town. i got new rotors and calipers. beautiful things too. red calipers and PowerStop Discs with Carbon/ Ceramic Pads.

i decided red to match the red springs and accent some color.

was stock for 20 years.. 400k miles into her i decided to play with it.

or work allows the time now and money isn’t spoken for like it was when i had a mortgage. LOL

anyhow. bleeding the brakes i did wrong. i used the Phoenix Reverse System and apparently i need to realize my talents are not under the hood and keeping the day job in ER is more my speed.

i’ve read so many posts here on how to...

    so much info here.
but truthfully, my hands are dirty and i feel oily.
um yea. i’M not suited for this mechanic stuff.

now i have to see how to get my truck to SF when he returns. without an accident due to stopping power.

***also, i got and put Dot 4. i read cap afterwards, only Dot 3. does that pertain to OEM brakes?
