So I just purchased GTR lighting CANBUS 2.0 front LED signal amber lights for my 2021 Tacoma. While driving tonight I noticed the left signal started hyper flashing after sitting at a left turn stop light for a minute. The reason I bought those bulbs was because I didn’t have to buy any load balancers or resistors for them. Any reason why they would be hyper flashing?

Could be a faulty built in resistor. You got warranty, I'd contact them.

I agree with the above. I have the same bulbs and only had hyper flash once. However in that case I had been sitting on the side of the road with my hazards on for about 20 minutes. Once the bulbs cooled there was no issue.

Seeing as you have the SR5 I imagine heat could play a factor since your DRLs include the turn signal lights. However I'm not so sure about this because my rear ones run whenever my headlights are on and I don't get hyper flash.

Another thought: can you repeat the hyper flash? If so have you made sure you don't have another bulb out?

yeah I can repeat the hyper flashing. I spoke to HR where I got the bulbs from and he said I needed load resistors for the turn signals. I’m gonna put the OEM bulbs back in since I don’t want to mess around with load resistors and touch the OEM wire harness for the truck.

That's BS. The whole point in CANBUS was to not have them. I haven't had any issues. Did you make sure you had the right bulbs for the connectors you have? When I purchased mine they weren't sure on the 3rd gens so I had to do some research

Yeah it’s plug and play but I forgot to mention I have LED low beams and led fog lights installed on my truck as well. The shitty thing about it is that they advertise that it’s plug and play with no warning on their site that you might need a load resistor for them if you have other led lights installed on the car. I’ve been watching HR YouTube channel on these turn signals and in the video it say NO RESISTORS in all caps. It’s what caught me now I just lose out on having to pay the shipping back to the manufacturer in GA from HI.

I can make a harness that adds the capacity for resistors that would be plug and play if you’re interested. The hyper flash on these trucks is very temperamental.

That would be nice just depending on the pricing I would definitely be interested.

I have LEDs all around except my fogs. Maybe swap the bulbs from each side to isolate which bulb it may be and ask for an exchange.

I’ll try it out and see I do love the way the LED’s look so hopefully it’s just a bad bulb.

Hopefully! Do you have them front and rear by chance?

Just for shits and giggles, after testing switching sides, try placing one in the front and the other in the rear turn signal on the same side just to see if having one standard bulb and one LED on the same relay is causing an issue.

I tried swapping the bulbs around and still the same issue hyper flashing galore. I’ve noticed if I use the DRL on the stalk it will hyper flash because of the imbalance. Driving with no DRL’s on and using the turn signal normally it doesn’t hyper flash. Now let’s get into using the low beams and fog lights. Using the turn signals with low beams work 9 out of the 10 times after a while it will start to hyper flash though. Then using it with every light on for lights and low beam it hyper flashes as soon as I use my turn signal. I definitely want to get a load balancer because the damn LED’s just look so freaking good ugh!

I don't understand what's going on apart from maybe the fact that you have a 2021. I remember they did change some things in 2020 so maybe that's causing an issue. A load balancer probably wouldn't hurt in your case. Did you try putting the other LED in the rear turn signal just to see what would happen with both LEDs running instead of an LED up front and standard bulb in the back?

nope I haven’t tried putting it on the back ones at this point I’m gonna just return the led turn signals and get my money back and just run the regular halogen bulbs for now. I’ll just wait until I can buy a new head light housing with all LED’s.

If you can, definitely go with the OEM ones. You'll need an adaptor harness though
