Saw the helmet ref later- I'd worry about my bike getting stolen though, it's had way to much of my time and life restoring it to have someone take it or break it. Even basic motorcycle insurance is a good idea. Like the 3600rpm mount! :)

I like the way you think...

    [Edit]
Theft is not an issue here, and in Daytona a primary philosophy is "If you value your life, as much as I value my bike, don't Fuck with it."

Had that on a tag frame on my '68 FLH...

We’re required to have one here. That said I removed mine before I even got my plates and filled in the giant screw holes with these black plastic plugs and it looks fantastic.
In 10 months I’ve not had a problem and we have very aggressive cops in this little town.
I have not been bothered about it.
I do keep my license plate on the passenger floorboard and will just place it in the windshield if I get pulled over.

I did something similar above on my 08 Tacoma. (put it where everyone was putting the LED light bars) For this truck 17 I drilled two holes into the skid plate and mounted the plate there and 'curved' it a little bit. I drilled the two holes on the part that is perpendicular with the ground.

I got two small bolts and drilled the holes in the skid plate. I then put the bolt through the backside with the threads facing towards the front of the vehicle and put nut on it. Then put the license plate on and then another nut. Just make sure the bolt is long enough so you can put a nut on it to keep it there and then another one after you put the license place on it. (not necessarily needed but made taking it on and off much easier then reaching around to the backside)

I would be wary of reaching down to pick up anything if I had just pulled over by a cop-- please be careful when doing that-- the cop does not know what you are reaching for and could react accordingly! This is the way they are all trained. Instead of calmly walking up to your window --you may see the barrel of his gun staring you in the face!

...or see it pointed at you next to the door- late night, rental truck, couldn't roll down the damn window fast enough when asked by the cop- he thought I stole it because I didn't know where the knob was. Glad he didn't panic, it probably helped some that I had both hands on the wheel and the interior light was on for him when he approached the car, but he got mad when I couldn't roll down the stupid window! Seeing the gun pointed at my side didn't help any...Doh!!

The second time- standing by the same truck working late night, I turned my headlamp on and pointed it down at my front and hands - cop said I wish all bad guys came with those and holstered his gun after we spoke a bit. Again, my hands were always out and did exactly as told.

    None as of yet
It is considered obstructed by your windshield. Both plates must be fully visible and not behind anything, including a clear cover.

I hear what you’re saying, fortunately up here in AK we haven’t reached full tyranny status yet.

Hey, does anyone know if the 2016 front license plate bracket will fit on the 2017. I had a dealer's parts dept. give me the part number. 75101-04011, on the invoice it says "17 Tacoma." When I try to order the part number online it say "does not fit your 2017 Tacoma." Believe it or not, the bracket is 17 bucks from the dealer and best I could find online with shipping etc added in was around 35 bucks.

Yes they are the same, but get a no drill one instead. @ACEkraut, sells one version that I really like, but there are others. I don't remember the price, but I think it's close to 35.

Piano hinge and some stainless nuts and bolts from home depot and attached mine to some existing holes probably from the air dam... I think this is as aesthetically pleasing as a front plate can be on these trucks.

Also doubles as a mini front skidplate?

Fine for you -- good luck -- you best have everything else totally legal and in order-- as something as simple as a "missing plate", burnt out brake light - (one side will do it), or failing to signal -- amounts to a "Probable cause" in other words a perfectly legitimate reason to pull you over. This is their job -- some law enforcement agencies do it with more "gusto" than others.

I am legal, but try like hell to never give them a reason to mess with me. Just not worth the time or hassle.

Cool! Thanks for the information. I like the look of the stock bracket actually.

It's not bad, but saw how easy they come off when some one "tapped" into our Subaro which has the same kind of deal. If I hadn't noticed we would have lost the plate and holder.
