Someone in the Buy/Sell forum was making these out of aluminum so I bought one. The bracket is powder coated and has held up fine the last year or two. I used nylon lock nuts and bolt caps to keep things clean.

I think there's a plastic version that someone found on Amazon that does the same thing.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
NY cops almost stop in the middle of the road and stair me down.

No front plate, no registration sticker( in the corner of the plate, kinda like you all do on trailers) or inspection sticker in the windshield.

When you register property with the state you no longer own it. You are the “registered owner” not the owner big difference...you have to do what they say because you are the equitable title holder ownership stays with the states as the trustee for the federal government per the motor vehicle theft act of 1919.

I'll never put a plate on the front of my truck, but good choice on yours.

Huh? I much prefer it how it is to the hunk of plastic that came with the truck...

All things being equal, having a front plate helps more than it hurts. However, nothing is ever equal. WA requires a front plate, partly because it is a border state, partly because it is easier for police automatic readers to check your car if it has a front plate. I have a Fiat 124 Spider; I don't want to put a front plate for aesthetic reasons; I am willing to take my chances. On the other hand, I don't mind putting a license in front of my truck. Tacoma's front end is so huge anyway, that a tiny license plate is not going to make much difference.

I cross the US-Canada border frequently. From a legal standpoint, the border guards do not care if I have a front plate or not. However, having a front plate greatly facilitates going through the immigration check point because the guard can tell if I am leaving or entering the country just by looking at my plate as I approach the booth.

Here in Va you don't have a choice..Law states to have a front license. So unfortunately you're stuck with that ugly front holder :annoyed:

Does anyone run a tinted license plate cover on the rear? Think it’s illegal here in Florida but tons of people have them

They are for hit and run accidents, and tolls. You guys/gals would probably not be so vain and have a different outlook on the situation if you were directly affected by hit and run, like a death etc. Shame on you all breaking the law.

I have never been killed in a hit and run, so take that for what it's worth.

I think they are mainly for the benefit of LEO's, and I have read that in particular they are a highly reflective surface to follow with radar. Also lets cops profile you. Don't get me started on LEO's in adjacent states pulling over CO cars for trivial reasons for a potential pot bust. My son (Denver resident) got caught up in one of those traps in Sioux Falls.

Back OT, some vehicles look horrible with front plates, some don't. My Tacoma had the front bracket already installed, and I don't think it looks bad at all. However, for my MX5 I paid the extra fee to NE DMV to allow me to not mount one on the front.

A clever trick to cover unwanted holes is to get a small plastic plug from the hardware store (1/4" or so) and paint it with touch up paint. Looks OEM--I did that on my BMW X3 because some miscreant drilled the front bracket holes in the wrong place.
