I had an 04 tacoma that had an adjustable coilvover lift. Around 2.5" of front lift and the CV boots started eating themselves.

I now have a 2017 DCOR that I am planning to bring the front up an inch or so in order to level it out with the stock rear. It looks like the angles are pretty much the same on these 3rd gens compared to the 1st gens.

However, I am curious at which point do the CV fins on these 3rd gen trucks start contacting and blowing out? Seeing as how dealers appear to be installing 3/2 lifts like crazy it seems that the angles must not be that bad or do dealers just have no problem with replacing boots every 6months on there dime?

The general consensus is up to 3" and you're good as far as CV angles go. They will wear faster, but you won't be blowing through them every 6 moths.

How much room do you have between inner boot fins? They have to be pretty darn close?

They will touch at that height. They’ll wear faster, but nothing crazy where you’re replacing every 6 months. If you don’t want them to touch, you can cut the outer clip off and slide them farther out, and secure with a hose clamp.
