Front lockers

damn cool rigs, and stupid simple mechanically.. chain drives.... not fast, but they can go anywhere... only saw him (ostacruiser) get stuck a couple of times...

 

my jeep after the complete rebuild was well over $16k into it that i could account for.... that doesnt count all the tools, parts, bolts, washers, and other bits.....

 

I wish I had done armor first, bumpers, skids, and sliders, I took some risks that could have been bad and luckily only ended up with one trail trophy on my rear door, also all that weight will effect what your lift will look like and what you will want to install to compensate for it.

IMO: Armor > Lift > Drivetrain, in that order if I were to do it again.

 

Yea I have never seen one in person just on Youtube but damn they are impressive.

i know I'm doing OME heavy duty springs (think they're like 760lb springs) come spring time when my bumper goes on.
with the dual battery and all the armour the front sags so much.

 

stock bils? or going with another shock?

 

I did HD OME Dakars and cannot recommend them they make all kinds of noise, the leafs shift and even have them starting to look like a "W" which has me wondering as I do not have the weight to warrant that.

 

Not trying to rush you, just trying to share with you my experience, which perhaps will keep you from making the mistakes I feel that I did during my build....which never really stops lol

 

try an overload leaf, or add a leaf....

The thing is I thought that they would be more than sufficient as I am running a fiberglass cap, steel HC bumper with swing outs and a full size 35" spare, but somewhere along the way it was not so perhaps that is the answer.

I've been looking at the kits using the bilstein 5100/ icons. not a believer that resivoir shocks are a requirement on our trucks unless you plan to take it on the BAJA 1000...

 

I agree, reservoirs are overkill 95% of the time and are more of a status symbol for most than of real value, I live in a mountainous area and see no need for them. I went with OME all the way around as it was the most affordable for me and has been vetted.... my rear leafs are proving to be a disappointment though.

 

I sometimes take my truck on dirt roads... do I need me the front locker? (Btw I dont have a rear locker)

looking at this as well with a rear ubolt flip kit of course... just for the cost, and simplicity...
