These trucks, like any have a few weak spots. These weld-on plates are to reinforce the open C portion of the frame. These are the LONGEST plates available, and are designed to properly fit STANDARD cab, Extra cab, AND DOUBLE CAB frames! These fit from the bed mount, all the way to the rear bumper mounting area! Stock exhaust hangers fit even!

Just clean off some paint, weld on, and enjoy the most complete FRAME REINFORCEMENT built!

    ON SALE at only $59/set!

How thick are these? I knew my instructor from college was explaining that my frame was weak maybe this little mod won't be a bad idea.

Since they go all the way back to the bumper mounts, wouldn't they potentially be in the way of mounting the bumper? I know my rear tube bumper is a tight fit to get on along the frame, just wondering if that is an issue or not?

Damn that's a deal! I was always skeptical if these actually did anything, i finally put some plates on over the summer since i found some frame holes, and they definitely tighten up the rear end. My auto locker is actually streetable now.

They should fit, easy to trim if they're a little too long. They end about 1" in front of the forward bumper mount hole. So you can check it out before you order! If you do need them shortened, just let us know and we can do a trim before shipping out!

They're 1/8" You want to retain some flexibility, otherwise you crack the frame at either end of plates that are too thick or rigid. Think about a 4" I-beam welded to 1/16 thick box tubing. Now flex that structure repeatedly. It fail right at the joint. Same thing with the frame. Now if you plate the joint, and plate from partially on each piece with some material that still allows some flex, the whole structure is stronger, more rigid, but no so rigid that small vibrations cause the joint to fail at the end of the reinforcement. But long winded, hopefully that makes sense!

Wish I would have got these instead of the trail gear kit.

Can the stock spare tire carrier be used with these?

I assume you have to drop the gas tank when welding on the driver side plate? Seems like a no-brainer, but I just want to make sure. I am considering doing this mod in the very near future.

No, the plates don't go back that far. The frame turns into boxed frame before that.

I'd get the tank and lines protected or out of the way. The plates weld on the outside, not inside the frame so install is much easier than you may be thinking!

My question got lost in the thread... Can the stock spare tire carrier be used with these plates?

Yes, as these weld on the outside of the frame they will not cause any interference!

Any plans to design something for an 05 T4R? Do you think the front of my 99 Taco needs re-enforcement, too?

If they boxed the frame you would need more than just a plate since you usually have to cut off the shock mounts and relocate them.

We are looking into the 05+ frames. They've got more engineering in them, and we want to enhance not take away from the design.
Front of the frame, just bumper mounting, that's the only issue we see with the frame normally. Now if you are swapping in a solid a clear then yes, and we've been making a plating kit for just that for over 10 years! http://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/tacoma-and-4runner-steering-box-mount-and-frame-plate-kit/

Thanks, man. I received my plates today and will (hopefully) get them welded on my taco's frame in the near future.
