    Hello group,

I am considering replacing my speakers. Just the speakers, not changing the head unit or adding an amp. I think I will keep the original tweeters that are up inside the dash, I don’t want loud treble anyway.

So, I am looking for good quality plug & play speakers for the front & rear doors that have a god quality mid range & bass sound. I am a complete newb at this kind of stuff so don’t expect that I might know something about this kind of thing, because I likely don’t :)

Links to the product on Amazon, etc would be awesome!

My truck is a 2020 TRD Off Road Premium, but I do not have the upgraded JBL system.

    Thank you.

Focal speakers. They make plug and play specifically for the Toyota Tacoma. Component speakers are the way to go (separate mid woofer and tweeters) for the front stage of your truck.

Do not put coaxial speakers in your front doors. Sound like crap with tweeters in both the doors and on the dash.

Focal IS TOY 690 (up front)
Focal IC TOY 165 (in the back)

The have a high sensitivity rating and are very loud with just the stock head unit. No amp necessary.

Be sure to use sound damping material on the inside door outer walls. Speakers sound better and makes the truck much quieter.

    - Built in crossover

    - Baffle around magnet enhancing acoustics. Other speakers do not.

    - Sponge rubber around perimeter of speaker enhancing acoustics. Other speakers do not.

    What does coaxial mean?

I ordered the part numbers given there and it was plug in play for my 2020. Be sure when you order to get the wiring adapters, they are free but I remember having to check the box to get them. They are required to go from the new speakers to the factory wiring...

The 6x9 speakers in the front doors are mid woofers. Non coaxial. With the tweeters in the dash they make up a component setup. That’s what you want. Components up front.

In the rear I have 6.5” Focal ICTOY 165. They are coaxial with a midrange and tweeter together.

For this you need more power. Start by deadening the doors first, see how you like it and go from there.

For the people running the Focal icTOY165 in the rear doors of a 2020+ double cab, did you need a different wiring adapter? From what I've seen, the 2020+ trucks have a different rear speaker harness than the previous years, and I wasn't sure if the Focals came with anything to make either year work.
