Just bought my first truck. 1996 3.4 liter. Want to install a front receiver so I can use a winch, any suggestions on which one will fit?

Do you want just a receiver or a metal bumper that can house a winch? If you just want a receiver I think there are a few out there that you can modify the stock bumper to fit with. If you want the cheapest alternative for a metal bumper, check the Trail Gear Rock Defense - the cheapest price is around $550 free shipping from Jegs.

I think Curt makes a front receiver hitch for your truck.

I got a Warn 33025 the other day and am liking the fit. All holes line up nicely. Having a heck of a time bolting it up though. The instructions say use factory fasteners where the tie downs used to be. Don't have those. 12 mm is too small, 14 mm too big. Is is possible there's SAE fittings on my truck? The hitch will mount OK with 12 mm bolts running completely through the frame, top to bottom, but I'd prefer torquing it down frame to hitch plate. Also, I very slightly drilled out the back mounting holes that run horizontal through the frame to fit a 10 mm 10.9 grade bolt. I also used a galvanized backing plate with 1/2 hole against the inside of the frame to keep it from deforming. All this is to fit a Superwinch 3,000 lb ATV winch either front or rear for some light retrieval options.

Very easy to beat that price. I know I have drops paid for from past jobs.

A few holes drilled a little welding

Like I said friends that are not charging you a regular rate
