These come highly recommended. Pricey, but engineered for pulling, and they fall/fold away in case of front collision just like the rest of the frame is designed to "accordion" for safety: https://store.arbusa.com/recovery-point-2823010/

As a structural engineer, these are garbage. Surprised they want more than $100 for them. They are $20 decorations at best.

The ARB linked in the second post is the way to go if you don't have an aftermarket bumper with built-in recovery points.

Thank you both. The ARB are quite pricey. I’m also looking at some from Billet Proof Fabrication.
    Thanks again.

Those shackle mounts that replace the crash bars are super sketchy. Unless its bolting directly to the frame or replacing the bumper and bolting to the frame I would stay away.

The only thing I know of that's actually rated for recovery is the ARB. That's what I'm running. Well worth it if ever needing it. Can't read the sticker, but it is rated for something near 5 tons.

These cradle the front crossmember and don't rely on shear bolts for strength. They're as strong as the OEM recovery hook on OR and Pro models - limited by the strength of the front crossmember itself.

Your truck is cool, but this statement is not. You are wayyy off of the mark. The situation is way more complex than this.

"Meets Rigorous Quality Standards" vs ARB that lists material types and load ratings.

For what little time I spend off pavement the factory tie down up front is good enough. If I need more I'm going ARB.

The ARB are quite pricey. $302 each. Wow!
Guess I’ll just stick with rear recovery.

Those don't appear to be any different from the demon hooks which don't appear to ever actually get used outside of being nipple rings

I have a Bulletproof and have since gone to an ARB recovery point. I'd be curious to know what @MR E30 thinks of them.

The BPF compared to the ARB. I'd always figured the BPF wasn't any worse than a stock TRD hook and maybe an improvement since it uses a 3rd bolt.

Glad to hear that you ditched that BPF recovery point.

It is certainly better than the Demon Hooks (and all of their knock-offs), but it still falls short relative to both of the OEM points. The load path is far too irregular, in an effort to get the end of the point in a desirable location.

I know Toyota does not say that their front points can be used in a recovery, but that is for liability reasons mainly (IMO). The OEM stuff is simple and tough. It is only bested by aftermarket front bumpers (some of them) and the ARB recovery point (as far as products that I have come across in person or online).

I've been pulled out from the factory hook several times. I'd still like to have something more robust. Pretty much ARB or bust but I don't have $400 for it quite yet
