I just recently put a little bit bigger tires on my truck. Went from 265/75/r16 to 285s. Now my front right is constantly squeaking when I’m not on completely level road. What do I need to do to fix it? The sound is driving me nuts lol

Did you install a lift? Or are you saying you took off the old tires, changed nothing else, and put on the new tires?

It already had a 2” leveling kit on it when I got it. So nothing was changed except the tires.

Have you checked to see if your tire is rubbing on anything? You might see clean/rub spot on the upper control arm. The added width of the 285 could make it rub.

Random pic stolen from TacomaWorld, where this guy said his 275s were rubbing the control arm.

Edit/Addition: Does the sound change with speed, or is it correlated more with bumps in the road.

I’ll take a look. Not sure how I’d fix that if that were the case. And it only does it with bumps in the road. It makes a sound like something needs grease added to it.

If it were the tire rubbing, you'd need wheels with additional offset, or a spacer, to get the tire further from the control arm. As the suspension cycles, the angle could change enough to rub only intermittently.

If it's suspension squeak, which honestly sounds more likely, the best thing might be to start with someone bouncing the front corner of the truck as hard as possible and see if you hear the squeak, and if you do, climb under and see if you can pinpoint where it's coming from. I'd also suggest bouncing the rear as well, as I've heard some folks ended up having a squeaky leaf spring that they swore was coming from the front. Sometimes it's just hard to tell where the sound is coming from.

I had a squeak for ages before I finally found out my sway bar linkage wasn't tight on the spindle. Only when the truck was PERFECTLY level was the tension on the sway bar released enough that I could feel with my hand that it was slightly loose. I even changed my radiator support bushings out hoping that was the issue before I figured it out.
