My 2002 Tacoma 4wd double cab automatic, just turned 100,000 km. After I drive for 20kms or more,I hear a squeeling noise when I back in the driveway.Do not happen in forward. Igot out and rocked the front right wheelback and forth and could hear a squeek on every movement. After a few minutes when the area cooled off the squeeling stopped. It seems to come from inside the FRront right wheel center. Any ideas what it could be? Hopefully its not costly formy retired income. Any or suggestions is much appreciated.

warped rotor? how long since brakes replaced, and does the wheel shimmy a bit when stopping hard?

new brakes and rotors were installed about 6 months ago. No notice of shimmy when stopping hard

Bad wheel bearing possibly? Try jacking the wheel off the ground, grab the top and bottom of the wheel, shake, if theres play in the hub the bearing is toast.

I will check the wheel for play.

As for the dust cover issue, I did have a scraping issue before with the front left wheel,The dust cover was contacting. I just bent it back, will also check the clearance when I jack it up and check for bearing play. Thanks all

That type of noise can sometimes be caused by a rock or other object caught between the rotor an backing plate. Why it only happens when the vehicle is"warm" I have no clue.

Thanks all Beavis was right. It was just the dust cover. I bent it away and the squeeking and scraping stopped. I got to check the wheel bearings and brakes though and all was good,, Thanks for the help and suggestions.:)
