The 4 threaded inserts in my OEM skid plate are stripped out by misguided and rushed grease monkeys using power or air tools that previously removed and replaced the skid plate during oil changes. Thanks monkeys!! I ordered up a 8 x 1.25 tap to see if I can fix the issue of the bolts not going in correctly. I already have new 12mm bolts. So for me, it will be GREAT if I can not have to remove the whole skid plate and just use an oil filter access point. For me the ROI of making an access panel is good. But thanks for the thought. I'm still not averse to premanently removing the air dam and adding a better skidplate like the Lostar, which btw seems very reasonabley priced. The air dam / deflector is actually in the way of getting to the two front bolts making them a little bit of a pia to remove replace and making it easy to get them cross threaded, especially with power/air tools. I always use the old fashioned way, my arm and hand tools.

Thanks I read on another ad for similar product that removal of the air dam is required, so I agree. Also I forgot that SpeedFreak has already mentioned that any skidplate made for 3rd Gen Taco will fit all models.

Oh yeah look at my photo of the bolts.. this is what is happening to your bolts every time you take it to someone else to do an oil change. they use power/air tools and don't care about your truck.

I’m sure it must be the presence of the “factory air dams” on all the other models. 99% of the guys that use that skid plate would want to permanently remove that plastic air dam anyway. Not a big deal.

As others have said, air-dam. I pulled mine long before I installed the Lostar, so didn't think about it. Darn thing is now a cursed object. It sits in my garage next to the old pan cover, slowly but surely driving me insane. I've tried throwing it away, giving it away, burying it, burning it, foisting it upon an unsuspecting priest. But everytime I come home, there it is. On the garage shelf. Judging me for my poor decisions.

Other than that the lostar skid will fit any trim.
