quick question, as I'm slowly trying to revive my Taco i was wanting to replace the old struts in the truck for a better ride, what are some good reliable struts either from experience or from word of mouth you've seen? i got a 2.7L '03 4 Cylinder if that helps with any ideas

lol yea, would an assembly kit be a good idea? where it comes with new springs almost like a ready to install method? or are there cons to doing that

a dropped one and a high one
Some tips from a guy who fucked around with 5100 and has gone through a set. Have someone else build your struts ideally @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc will set you up right. I had to deal with stupid bushing issues and non oem top hats list goes on. For the amount of money I spent i could have had a set of Kings or close to it.

but now that my 5100 are set correctly I like them.

Well OP didn't say what kind of better ride he was looking for :notsure:

You offered sound advice with suggesting 5100s

The Bilsteins will actually provide a firmer than stock ride, as they are oriented towards off road performance. If off roading is what the OP will do, then the Bilsteins are a quality yet budget friendly setup.

cool thank you, im just looking for a smoother ride because the area i live in has a lot of dips and pot holes in the roads and the old struts are making it a bumpy ride to and from work is all but im good with the 5100's unless you got any other suggestions

do these 5100s require a lifted to a stock height 1st gen truck

i am needing to get some replacements shock absorbers up front ... on original equipment still

with these 5100s i now have 4 choices of which to make from and not sure which is going to alleviate bad roads issues and be happy driving once again
i would like to get these taken care of before those holes here locally start really expanding like craters, saw a few this morning popping up

@T12DELAY , if your not looking to lift your truck, and want to keep the stock ride height take a look at the Bilstein 4600 shocks. They'll give you decent performance, without going through the hassle of lifting the truck. Jut my 2 cents worth.

4600s are stock length, and a tad bit softer than 5100s

They are what Toyota uses on these trucks; they're the yellow bodied Bilsteins

@GQ7227 , I purchased a complete set. I'm pretty sure there's a difference between the front and rears, You can always go to wheelers website or any 4 wheel parts web site, and find the answers your looking for. Someone else might chime in with the correct information.
